Dear Friend,

What we’re up to
We’ve been asked numerous times about what is keeping us busy.  We are on
furlough (we would be on furlough for one year even if we were returning to Cameroon), but just because we’re on furlough doesn’t mean we are on vacation.  David is working as a volunteer two days a week with our home church as a Missionary-in-Residence.  What does that mean?  It means he’s been helping with IT, small group development, finances and other administrative aspects.  He’s also been volunteering since our return in June as a User Advocate for the YouVersion Bible App.  This is a free app that has around 1,100 versions of the Bible in over 780 languages.  Approximately 200 help desk requests are submitted daily to the android team, which is the team David volunteers with.  He logs about 30 hours a week helping with this.  It’s encouraging that he can use his French and tech skills to be involved in helping people to engage with the Bible.  DeAnna has been volunteering in several different areas for specific projects.  The boys started public school on August 18th.  It’s hard to believe Joshua is a 7th grader and Jonah is a 5th grader.  Our whole family is trying to adjust and transition together into maneuvering through life in the USA.  We are third culture people now.  We never truly fit into our host culture and we don’t really fit in our passport culture, so we are in a unique place where we are a blend between the two creating this third culture.  Our boys ages 10 and 12 years old are TCK’s (Third Culture Kids), learning to fit in.

Finances
As mentioned many times, we don’t receive a fixed salary, so our monthly paycheck varies from month to month. We’ve had several low donation months in a row, which means our ministry is receiving 30% less than the monthly budget Wycliffe sets for us. Yes, our budget is higher for the US than Cameroon so we will be following the Lords lead in increasing our financial partnership team. If you would like to increase your gift amount or join our ministry team see the “contribution” information below.   If you would like more financial details please contact us.

What’s Next?
We have been looking at options within Wycliffe. We’ve been praying for guidance and direction. Our desire is to be obedient to the Lord’s leading. We are spending time in prayer and recovery from hard transitions and serving six years overseas. We are trying to be patient, however, it’s hard to be patient and not try to take control.

“But they who wait upon the Lord will get new strength. They will rise up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weak.”  Isaiah 40:31 (NLV)
