With the Jewish New Year and Eid Al-Adha approaching,
PCATI presents its achievements for 2015


As an organisation committed to transparency and continuous learning, the systematic monitoring and evaluation of our activities is central to PCATI’s work. With the below data, aimed for giving a taste of our accomplishments in 2015, PCATI wishes you all Sana Tova and Eid Mubarak.  
Our litigation work in numbers (January-August 2015)
Our professional trainings in the medico-legal documentation of torture (January-August 2015):
  • 14 legal and health experts trained as trainers
  • 3 medico-legal training of users activities: two in Tel Aviv for Israeli health and legal practitioners and one in Bet Jala for Palestinian health and legal practitioners
  • Outreach to 59 new health and legal professionals
  • Visitation to 190 Palestinian prisoners incarcerated in Israeli prisons.
  • Filing 20 complaints of torture to the authorities.
  • Submitting 5 appeals against the authorities’ decisions to close complaints.  
  • The Israeli High Court has held hearings in 7 different petitions PCATI had filed regarding violence of state agents:
  • In the case of a group petition claiming justice for six Palestinian women who were ill-treated during their interrogation,
  • Petition in the case of police violence against demonstrators in Ras-El-Amud district in Jerusalem,
  • Petition in the case of a prisoner, who experienced sexual harassment in Israeli detention,
  • Three petitions regarding physical and psychological torture, and
  • Petition regarding the lack of accountability for violence against Palestinians committed by soldiers of the IDF.
Our Cinema and Human Rights educational project in numbers (January-August 2015)
  • 7 workshops in higher learning institutions (among them, 2 semester-long courses in Bachelor of Education Colleges)
  • Outreach to 127 students of higher learning institutions
  • Regular liaison and one meeting of the national teacher leadership group
  • 36 workshops in high schools
  • Outreach to 632 students
  • 6 workshops in non-formal educational settings
  • Outreach to 58 young adults
