EPA 30 Jubilee Conference registration, invitation to comment on the draft Manifesto 2015, summer activities report

EPA Newsletter 7/2015

7th September 2015
Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to the September Newsletter.

While most of Europe has just started school or about to start it, most parents are not only involved in activities related to this, but also concerned about the refugee crisis. Being Hungarian I am especially ashamed of the treatment my country's government is offering children and parents, and I strongly believe that parents have to raise their voice and also act for these people. Right after providing food, shelter and basic health care, the next most important rights violated are that of the rights to play and to education. As active European parents we have to help the refugee parents and children to have an as normal as possible family life, including play and learning. If you have any good initiative to share, the blog is available.

We are preparing for the EPA 30 Jubilee Conference Representing Parents in Europe: the first 30 years in Luxembourg, 27/28 November. The invitations have been sent and registration is now open. Be aware of the early bird registration deadline, 15 September. After this date we cannot help you with booking accommodation. Most of you have answered the two surveys and we have a very important landscape on covering school costs and the extent of parental involvement, that we are going to present in Luxembourg. Very few countries are still blank, but we are working hard to cover the white spots. As part of the preparations we have also drafted a Manifesto that we want to adopt at the Jubilee. It is open for comments and modifications until 30 September only. Please send your comments to the president@euparents.eu address. ALCUIN submission date has also been extended to 30 September.

Some of you have asked for an early sharing of minutes of our last GA. We made the draft available for you to use, but be aware that it will only be accepted by the GA in November. Finally I want to call the attention of those members who haven't paid their membership fees to the fact that GA voting right at the Autumn GAare suspended for no-paying members.

I wish you all a good new school year. See you in November.

Best wishes,

Eszter Salamon
president
