"Weird, Wacky and Wonderful"
Dance & Science
Research week & presentation | September 12 - 20
The dance & science experience is taking the next step. After Experiment A and Experiment B, we continue our collaborative research. Starting point is the surprising outcomes of the performance were dancers showed no solidarity towards each other. Intriguingly, it seemed as if individuals who act independently, who do not fulfill social expectations and do not meet standards of what is "normal", end up being less recognizable as individuals.

The research week will focus on finding ways to make this fully "liberated" individual a socially accepted (perhaps even valued) member of the community. Five choreographers/dancers and five experts from various backgrounds are challenged to explore questions about individuality and innovation, about human perception and social categorization, about social exclusion and the construction of deviance.
Curious to know what comes out of this week? Come to the Studio Presentation on Saturday September 19 in the Grand Theatre.
