News & Updates from The Centre Thailand
 Enquiries:  thecentrecm@gmail.com

It’s been a while since we last sent out an update! But, God is still moving in this corner of Chiang Mai, Thailand, at the Centre! Firstly, we’d like to welcome and introduce Carmen Marcy (pictured above) who has come from the US to teach English for 4 months. Carmen turned 76 years old two weeks after she arrived in Thailand! This is one determined "young" woman!
Melody Kuka has also joined the staff part time since March and has spent her time cleaning out all the stuff in this building that we didn't need.

And finally, with tears and laughter we said farewell to Esther Na (above, center) who was with us for almost 4 years. We will miss her energy and ever-positive attitude. Her students are VERY sorry to see her go.

Some staff and students venture out to the nearby Mae Ngat Dam for a day of fun in the sun. Many of these students come regularly to the Centre, not just for English, but especially for the meaningful and fun relationships that have grown, and God is continually drawing them to himself through these precious friendships.

In June 2015 I (Leo) spent a month teaching at The Centre in Chiang Mai. Having just graduated from The University of London, I thought it would be a good way to spend my time before proper work started in September as I have considered the possibility of teaching English in East Asia within a Christian project before. Thai students certainly work a lot harder than I did when I was at university! The students were really fun to teach and we’d usually spend time together outside of class too, often going for dinner or playing games. I feel they enjoyed it too and pray that they will stay connected to The Centre so that they will make relationships with believers in hope that they may learn more about The Lord Jesus.
  1. We would like God to fill ALL our classrooms with teachers that love the Lord and are eager for their students to know the Lord. Pray for more teachers.
  2. At the same time, pray for more students to fill the classrooms as God answers our prayers for more teachers.
  3. Visas: Thailand immigration laws are ever-changing. Lately we have been receiving 6 month visas instead of 1 year visas. Pray that we will return to receiving 1 year visas.
  4. Pray for the current, past, and future students: that their eyes and ears will be opened to the Good News. Pray that God will prepare the soil of their hearts to receive the seed of the gospel of truth. Pray that the 2 house churches started from the Centre will continue to multiply and leaders will be trained up in each church.
  5. We would like to start painting the Centre, one room at a time, we would like to install a chimney for our oven, we would like to clean and repair all our air-cons, but..we really can't raise our prices for classes. Pray for God's provision for all the financial needs in the Centre.
