September Newsletter

Several LBG members participated in a social brew day, organized by member Andy Booth, Aug. 22 to brew one of Dwight Burnham’s favorite recipes. The beer, which is a porter, will be on tap at the Dwight Burnham Memorial Brewfest Sept. 26. See our website and Facebook page for more photos from the event.
Congrats to LBG members James and Tara Taylor on their recent placings in the Missouri Mashers Hot Summer Brew Off Competition! They earned first place for “Snow Day Winter Brew” in the Russian imperial stout category. The beer went on to place second in the best of show competition. They also won third place for “Flint Hills Red IPA” in the specialty IPA category. There were 122 entries judged and 85 registered participants, judges and stewards.
The LBG met for its monthly meeting Aug. 13. Vice President James Taylor led the seminar on kegging. Member Bob Dieterle led the tasting on saisons. Miss the meeting? Read the minutes here. See our website or Facebook page for more photos from the meeting.
The Greater Topeka Hall of Foamers club is hosting its second annual homebrew competition -- Brew Bash -- Oct. 31. Entries are being accepted Oct. 2 through Oct. 25. Check out their website for all the details.
Brewfest round two tickets still are available. We're encouraging online ticket sales using PayPal. Matt has posted instructions here
Hey, all! Believe it or not, it's Brewfest time! I'm looking forward to trying all of your beers later this month.

If all goes as planned, we should have the Brewfest T-shirts on hand at the September meeting. We ordered a few extras in the popular sizes. If you're interested in purchasing extras, see me at the meeting or shoot me a message on the forum or Facebook. Remember, those who pay in advance using PayPal's send money to friends and family option will get to stand in the short line at the meeting to pick up their shirts. Those paying at the meeting will need to connect with Matt.

I've had several members ask me about doing a women's brew day again (similar to the one we did in March of last year). If that's something that interests you, please post here or talk to me directly. It'll be something we tackle after Brewfest.

Looking forward to seeing you Sept. 10! Cheers! — Jenalea
