What is Castro Cares?

Castro Cares is addressing quality of life issues with both compassion and added enforcement. Castro Cares funds additional dedicated homeless outreach workers and police officers walking a foot patrol in the Castro/Upper Market. Data is posted on the website monthly. See the August data.

Castro Cares; Helping Our Most Vulnerable

A Castro Cares case manager was recently able to get a homeless person with cancer into stable housing, case manage this person through surgery, chemo therapy and arrange for care of their pet during this time. This person is now in permanent housing and has written a letter to the case manager thanking him for his life saving support and invited him to a home cooked dinner as a thank you!

Live! In The Castro this summer has been supported by a generous donation from HBO. HBO donated funds to the Castro CBD as a thank you for using the Jane Warner Plaza to shoot footage of the HBO show Looking.
