Thanks to your massive efforts, Summer programs have been super successful for kids, youth, and parents. We’re beginning Fall programs this month, so please let us know your availability with the 2015 Fall Volunteer Survey. For multi-day events, you can join us for 1 day, several days, or all days. Where possible, we will help arrange transportation if you travel poses a challenge for you.
We also are planning a Celebration Review to consider the impact mentors and volunteers have made through our many camps, workshops, and events. We will be inviting youth and parents to show their games and share what they have been working on.
If you’d like to help plan and host the Celebration, give Will a yell.
Award Winners of the Mythos Challenge
On August 13th, the Mythos Youth Council celebrated entrants of the 2015 Mythos Challenge with awards for their creativity, perseverance, and voice. The event also launched our newest initiative, the Youth Play Fund, to support Oregonian youth making games.
As the 1st recipient of our Youth Play Fund, we asked the youth council to award up to $5,000 to advance youth aspirations. They dedicated the awards to promoting a wide range of ages, experience, and youth voice. More than technical knowledge, they wanted to highlight the value of celebrating youth diversity and imagination for Oregon.
In addition to themed awards, the Epic Potential Awards provides a $1,000 budget and connects youth to professionals from Oregon’s game industries. Pixel Arts Game Education is proud to partner with the youth council and the Portland Indie Game Squad for the Youth Play Fund.
Please join us for the 2016 Mythos Challenge. Applications for the youth council open in September, and we begin workshops in January.
