The UN summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda is around the corner. People with disabilities (PWDs) are demanding inclusion within the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and that the SDGs live up to their claim of leaving no one behind.
In their response to the outcome document, the ASEAN Disability Forum (ADF), along with ARROW and CREA India, emphasizes the need for more effective inclusion of marginalized communities including people with disabilities not only within the outcome document but also in terms of implementation programmes.
People with disabilities remain a marginalized community. Needs of people with disabilities remain invisible and not included within policy documents at all levels - global, regional and local. Within this, women with disabilities are further marginalized because of the double discrimination on the basis of gender and on disability.
