This week Inc Magazine came out with a list of the best careers for work life balance. On it were firefighter, equity trader, fitness instructor and carpenter. The list is fun to look at, yet its relevance ends there. There are two factors that matter for work life balance: your boss and your company culture. You could be in the most "family friendly" field stuck working for a boss who doesn't respect your personal life, or you could be in a traditionally challenging field with a great corporate culture and find that it all works. So when making career decisions, prioritize the people and the culture every time.
