​Meet Amanda Fitzpatrick



This month WCCB Charlotte welcomed Amanda Fitzpatrick as the newest member of the WCCB news team. Amanda is the new nightside reporter weeknights at 10 and anchors the 6 &10 pm weekend newscasts.
 
Amanda is a native of Durham, NC and is super excited to be close to home. Previously Amanda was anchor and reporter at CW33 in Dallas, TX. Amanda was nominated for three Lone Star EMMY awards and winner of three "Salute to Excellence" in reporting awards by the National Association of Black Journalists.
 
Amanda also reported for NBC5 in Dallas, and ABC11 in Raleigh-Durham where she covered the 2008 presidential campaign for ABC network. She also reported in Charleston, SC and Albany, GA.

College Football Kicking Off Big This Year on WCCB!
WCCB Charlotte launched an action-packed college football lineup earlier this month starting with the Mountaineers of Appalachian State vs. Howard, followed the next weekend by the home opener of the Charlotte 49ers vs. Presbyterian. WCCB Charlotte has grown its football on-air roster this fall by scheduling 15 college games that include not just the 49ers and App State, but also other local favorites NC State, Elon, Marshall and Wingate. Charlotte Moves Up to DMA Market #22


Due to continued population growth in Charlotte, the latest Nielsen DMA market ranks show Charlotte moving up two positions to rank 22nd among all local television markets in the country.  

#1 WCCB News @ 10pm 

WCCB News @ 10pm easily ranks first among all 10:00pm newscasts, beating WCNC (NBC), WJZY (Fox) and WAXN (Ind), Mon-Sun broadcasts in the latest survey, for Adults 25-54. WCCB is also #3 among all 10:00pm & 11:00pm newscasts.

With a 41% growth in total viewers, the CW's "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" on WCCB has levitated from last season to become a spectacular summer hit in Charlotte. In the August 2015 sweep, the show featuring the virtually unfoolable illusionist duo was #2 among all Monday prime shows for the Adults 18-49 demo. "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" will continue to air Mondays at 8 PM through mid-October.

Crazy isn't the half of it.

It's crazy that, for the second straight year, the little, once-disposable CW should have the most promising pilot of the new fall broadcast season with the suitably off-kilter Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The way CW is going, you get the feeling the only reason the junior network didn't claim USA TODAY's top two spots — as it did last year with Jane the Virgin and The Flash — is that it only has one new fall show.
