The Mishpatim Seminar in Israeli and International Law
January 7th till January 28th 2016 at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem

The word "Mishpatim" is Hebrew for "law". The Seminar is an intensive program (60 academic hours). Since its inception in 1993, the Seminar has been the Hebrew University’s most popular program for Australian university students. The Seminar is taught in English by leading Israeli academics, legal practitioners and judges. Particular attention is devoted to issues at the forefront of the Israeli legal system, including the search for a constitution, human rights and terrorism, and the interplay between international law and domestic law.
The program includes field trips to the Supreme Court of Israel, the Knesset (Parliament of Israel), a legal aid clinic for Jewish women who have been refused a religious divorce, Rabbinical and Military Courts and more.
Participants are required to complete formal examinations according to their stage of studies (JD, LLB etc.) including research essays, a written examination and/or an oral examination.
At the conclusion of the program, participants are issued with an official academic transcript by
HUJI. This could be counted as an elective towards your JD program!

For any other information you can access the website: http://austfhu.org.au/mishpatim.html

22 October - LIV National Golden Gavel and Australian Young Lawyer Awards
6:30 - 10:00PM
In a world dominated by the fiercest competitors, seven brave opponents prepare for a battle of wills and a struggle to survive. We have scoured the nation for the top contender from each state and territory, putting their public speaking skills to the test with five-minute speeches on a range of hilarious yet hard-hitting topics. After weeks of struggle and triumph, it is time for the final battle: a stand-off pitting state against state, territory against territory, in one last eloquently delivered verbal spar at the State Library in Melbourne. Twenty-four hours to prepare. Five minutes to speak. Only one can rise to the top and conquer all.
