Defend the Defenders: Stand Up for our Environment
Monday 21st September 2015 12pm - 1pm Victoria State Parliament

A quick reminder that Friends of the Earth is calling for supporters to attend a celebration of the important and tireless hard work that is supported by donations to environment organisations.  This process is under attack:

'People who care about the environment are under attack. Why? Revenge.

The dirty climate-wrecking polluters don't want to change their ways and want to make it harder for people to make donations to protect the environment.

Each donation is a powerful statement of care and so we're having a celebration of the places we love in defiance of these negative attacks.

We're timing the celebration for a Parliamentary Inquiry that's taking place this Monday in Melbourne. The polluters are exerting their lobbying might through this Inquiry to get the government to do their bidding. Join us to show that our care is more powerful than the polluters' dollars.

BRING: A photo of a place you love that has been improved or saved by an environment group, or a personal story about why you support environment groups. A camera crew will be roaming the crowd to record these stories.'

Have your Say: Victoria's Renewable Energy Plan, Castlemaine Thursday, 24 September 2015

The Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources is holding public forums to support the development of a Renewable Energy Action Plan; a practical plan to increase renewable energy generation, contribute to the state’s economy, create jobs and benefit the environment.

It would be great to get some big local voices in the room!

Thursday, 24 September 20155:45 PM to 8:00 PM
Phee Broadway Theatre
Mechanics Lane Castlemaine

Interested members of the public are invited to attend one of the following forums. Please ensure you click the link to RSVP to the location of your choice.

The Victorian Government recently released Victoria’s Renewable Energy Roadmap to inform the consultation process. It outlines a number of initiatives aimed at accelerating the development of renewable energy in Victoria and suggests a renewable energy target of at least 20 per cent by 2020. Feedback is being sought on the objectives, actions and priorities outlined in the Roadmap, and whether there are any additional ideas the Government should be considering.

We encourage all attendees to read the Roadmap before attending a forum to promote a productive discussion. Copies are available via the Department's website.

Formal submissions on the Roadmap can be made via: renewable.energy@ecodev.vic.gov.au

Submissions will be published on the website, unless clearly labelled ‘material supplied in confidence’.
