AMHE Newsletter #157

Dear Members, Volunteers, Friends of AHDH, and Haiti:
On behalf of the Executive Committee of AHDH, Inc., please, allow me to share with you the details of our upcoming  Fall  2015 Medical & Educational Mission’s, scheduled to take place from November 14, 2015 thru November 28, 2015, our 64th since 1986. We are exactly 2 months from departure dates and if you are joining please, send us a note ASAP.
Now, some preliminary details for those considering participating, as more info will be sent to you as soon you express your commitment.
A-There will be 2 teams, while i will be there the whole time and an extra week, for administrative supervision, no medical services: Team-1: 11/14/2015 thru 11/21; Team-2: 11/21 thru 11/28/2015
Our charter planes, from Port-Au-Prince to Jacmel and back, are already scheduled to take off from P-Au-P (PAP) and Jacmel as follows:
1-Saturday, November 14, 2015, 12 noon: A Caravan, P-Au-P to Jacmel
2-Saturday, November 21, 2015, 10 AM:    A Caravan, Jacmel to P-Au-P
3-Saturday, November 21, 2015, 12 noon:  A Caravan, P-Au-P to Jacmel
4-Saturday, November 28, 2015, 10 AM:     A Caravan, Jacmel to P-Au-P
 Therefore:
a- We must fly to be in PAP, from Miami, leaving at 7:15, Flight # 377, to arrive by 9:15 AM, plus time at Immigration and Customs; or from Fort Lauderdale: Flight #1158, leaving FLL at 6:15Am to arrive at 8:10 AM  (from NY, it would be too late)
Typically, if we are not in PAP already, and we are not from the Miami area, we sleep at Miami   International Airport Hotel, Located inside Miami International Airport at the Concourse E , the night before.
If 2 volunteers share the room, it will cost about $60 per person.
Remember every penny spent for the mission is 100% tax-deductible.
b- Do not schedule your return flight before 1:00PM, as we need time to fly from Jacmel to PAP, on your way back.
We would appreciate your sending me a note (chasrene46@bellsouth.net) and questions ASAP.
As 2 months may look far in time, but it will come faster than you imagine, and the best prices for airlines tickets run around 6 weeks before departure.
We are still in need of internists, Pediatrician, RNs, Ob-Gyn, handyman (electricity, plumber) etc. Please, let your heart and that fulfilling sense of "giving back" guide you (a volunteer just shared with us that his College, the American College of Surgeons, ACS, just initiated a movement:"Operation Giving Back", somehow encouraging its members to realize that their God-given talents are not theirs to keep, but to share and make this planet a better planet . Amen ACS...Mat. 25: 14), and if you find your answer is yes, you are a privileged one in the eyes of the Almighty. (Mat 25:35), as some of us have been, over the last 28 plus years of AHDH's mission.
Those coming are going to join our mission at an exciting time, as our Outpatient Department is emerging slowly but surely out of the ground (see attachment. I apologize for the version being in French, as I have not had time to translate it yet, as our supporters in Switzerland needed it ASAP), and we can not be grateful enough to all of you who have been standing with us to offer that precious gift of health to our less fortunate brethren of that county of Haiti, La Vallée de Jacmel.
Lastly, I will exhort those who can not make it this time to consider a donation for Mision Support, as we have some ancillary expenses we face...temporary hiring of local talented youngsters...CRNA, Lab Tech. and often, unexpectedly, a broken AC, a mission van problem etc.
Be well and let's be ready to share our blessings,
Cordially,
Charles

Dear Serge,
Recently the AMHE learned about the passing of Mr Max Beauvoir and we were told that he was your uncle.
We want to take this opportunity to present our sincere condolences in hoping that you will find strength in your souvenirs to live those bad moments. May he rest in peace and may his Creator receive him with open arms in his kingdom.
Accept in the name of the entire membership at the AMHE, our deep sympathy to you and your family.
