MEDINFO is the premier international Health and Biomedical Informatics event. MEDINFO 2015 was hosted by SBIS (Brazilian Health Informatics Association) on behalf of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and took place in the city of Sao Paulo from the 19th to 23rd August 2015.

IMIA Delegates at MEDINFO 2015
 
The International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) s and independent organisation established in 1967. IMIA plays a major global role in the application of information science and technology in the fields of healthcare and research in medical, health, and biomedical informatics.
The General Assembly consists of representatives of the organizations that comprise the structure of IMIA, i.e. Member Societies, Academic and Corporate Institutional Members, along with representatives of IMIA’s Working and Special Interest Groups, Honorary Fellows, and Corresponding Members. The General Assembly is the ultimate authority in the conduct of IMIA’s affairs. IMIA was founded by the representatives of Medical Informatics Societies (Associations). Their representatives were (and continue to be) the only constituents of the General Assembly with full voting privileges and have the sole right to change  IMIA’s Statutes,  elect the IMIA Board and approve IMIA’s Budget.

Australia at MEDINFO 2015


The best of the Australian health informatics community was proudly on show at Medinfo 2015. Professor Fernando Martin Sanchez from the University of Melbourne co-chaired the Scientific Program Committee.  Of almost 800 submissions across 59 countries, Australia presented a large number of academic papers, chaired sessions and formed part of the review process. Dr Kathleen Gray, Senior Researcher at HaBIC, was highlighted among the top 5 reviewers. Australia was also the 4th country in number of delegates, after the US, Brazil and Argentina.
