Refugees in the NAME region

All the people are in need and desperate

The images of refugees fleeing the war and violence in Syria and Iraq are heartbreaking. Thousands of desperate men, women and children are risking their lives to reach Europe to escape destruction, oppression and death. These are the people who have the means to pay for the voyage.

Meanwhile, millions of people are displaced internally within Syria and Iraq. More than 1.2 million refugees are crowded into the small country of Lebanon and nearly one million are in Jordan. As the wars grind on, our staff teams continue to do all they can to meet the enormous physical and spiritual needs of all these displaced people.

“Serving the refugees is difficult. It is not easy to buy or transport the materials we distribute to storage. All the roads in Damascus are full of security checkpoints. When we open our doors to register new people for aid, I see huge numbers of people begging me to register them. I cannot blame them for begging. All the people in Syria are in need and desperate.

“But we are servants of the Lord. Seeing many people accept Jesus and grow in Him is what encourages us and helps us to serve. Our aim is to help people to know Christ and worship the Lord, and to fulfill their needs as much as we can.”

New Center opening in Beirut

In Lebanon our staff member, a refugee from Iraq, launched a refugee relief center and school in Beirut in partnership with a local church. The members of the church have been revived by the success of this ministry. Now they are trained well enough that our brother has been able to entrust this center completely to the church, and begin a second center in another part of Beirut.

A delegation from the Iraqi education ministry visited the new center and are discussing the opening of a school for the refugee children. A clothing distribution center has already begun. Praise God for the opening. May He continue to bless the efforts to bring joy and salvation into others’ lives

Life Agape staff serve thousands of families in Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon.

In every country of the NAME area where there are large numbers of Syrian or Iraqi refugees, Life Agape staff members are busy spreading hope by meeting spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

-Please pray for emotional and work balance for our staff and disciples pouring themselves into service to the refugees.
-Pray for an end to the violent conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and other parts of NAME.
-Please pray for H, a staff member serving refugees in Lebanon who is currently in intensive care after suffering a possible heart attack.
