THIS SUNDAY AT NFCN:

9:00AM - SUNDAY SCHOOL - PLEASE NOTE THE SPECIAL TIME

10:00AM - ONE CELEBRATION SERVICE

11:30AM- CATERED CELEBRATION DINNER

  5:30PM - NO EVENING WORSHIP

5:30PM - EMMAUS (Fellowship Hall)

The Senior Adult Dinner was a crowded and raucous affair last Thursday night, featuring the entertainment of Martha Garvin in costume and on the piano.  What a great night!

The Dinner also debuted the Victory Class Voluptuous Vixens as they are known.  What a number.

A BIG THANK YOU to Amanda Dunlap, James Storie, Adam Twining, Eric Jans, Nic Dennis, Shane and Katie Tarter, Elizabeth Clay, Lauren Spears, and Brodrick Thomas for being vulnerable enough to share with us this past Sunday night in our Young Adult Panel.  The Panel focused on the Love our Young People have for NFCN and their hopes and dreams for NFCN.  It was amazing to see such passionate and young leaders at our church hope and dream together a future that centers around invitation and community!  You can watch the panel HERE -   discussion starts around the nine minute mark.

ON THE DOORSTEP OF HISTORY

To say ANYTHING is truly HISTORIC at Nashville First Church is like trying to measure the importance of some present occurrence in Rome, for example!  You're up against a LOT of amazing history with a people and place like NFCN!  We haven't been around for 117 years by accident!

However, what is being celebrated this coming Sunday at NFCN IS truly historic.  Yes, we've been debt-free on our facility and property before.  It's been a LONG time, but we have.  What makes this time unique is the amount of debt that had been accumulated over the missional and visionary purchase of adjoining properties, building expansions and upgrades, new Sanctuary (Reed Building) and other projects.

Add to that the increased intensity of debt pay-off that was agreed to by our Church Board ten years ago, knowing it would restrict our budget but in ten "short" years we would be "free" of it! That decision by Pastor Henecke and the Board seems now like a very wise one.  We've never missed a payment and God has provided for His Church.  Yes, things have been very tight financially, program budgets frozen or reduced and human resource costs greatly reduced, especially in the past four years.  But here we are...on the doorstep of history - and about to walk through!  To God be the Glory!

As we gather Sunday, please come with open hearts and a spirit of anticipation.  Come to thank God, yes, for faithful people, but mostly to PRAISE HIM for HIS PROVISION for His people and His Church!  And come READY TO CELEBRATE - in ways we have never before and may never again! This will be a day with memories to take to your grave!  Call your family and friends, invite everyone you can - and let's enjoy together an unforgettable experience.

Here again is the unique, one-time schedule of events:

9:00 AM - SUNDAY SCHOOL
10:00 AM - CELEBRATION SERVICE - Branch and Celebration together as one!
11:30 AM - CELEBRATION MEAL - in Gym and Fellowship Hall - fully catered from Maggiano's Little Italy - bring NO food - just yourselves and your guests - as we enjoy this together.

There will be no regular evening worship service this Sunday.  We will see you Sunday!  I can't wait...

You know the pressure.  To have the perfect Christian life and the perfect family.  To be the perfect friend.  To look perfect in those pair of jeans.  To be a super-girl. But instead of feeling good about yourself, you're left stuck in the gap between who you are and who you long to be.  Join us beginning Monday, September 14th at 6:30 PM as we learn how even tired super-girls can fight the enemy of pride, worry, jealousy, busyness, loneliness and many more. Even tired super-girls have a secret weapon: God's Truth! NEW WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY BEGINS SOON ON WEDNESDAYS
September 23—November 11, 2015
6:00-7:30 PM in Reed 100
Books:  $3.00
Angela encourages women to rekindle their hearts by returning their lives to God. How can an imperfect life with blemishes and scars reflect back to God a true gratefulness for His love? Jesus knows you are not perfect, but He also knows that you are made perfect in Him, if only you will come and surrender to Him daily.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us His compassionate instruction for everyday living and then wraps His teaching with the promise of His blessing. "Jesus wants us to learn to live in a way that reflects the kingdom of God to the world, to live as a woman with a kingdom heart," writes Angela. "I truly want to be that woman. And Jesus says that when you are, it's beautiful and blessed."
