Arctic Circle and the World Ocean Forum
W2O Director Peter Neill is traveling to Rekyjavik, Iceland this week to attend the
Arctic Circle Conference. He is there to engage some of the foremost thinkers on Arctic issues so that we might spark further conversations with presenters across a full range of topics. These will then be presented to our viewers as the
World Ocean Forum within our catalog of communications. The
World Ocean Forum will develop into an interactive conversation between scientists, activists, explorers, and the general public as a way to share information and get an engaging dialogue started about some of the big issues facing us today. Stay tuned: we will report back on the progress of the
World Ocean Forum more in the coming months.
World Ocean Exhibits and W2O at the ICMM
In November, the W2O is presenting at the
17th International Conference of Maritime Museums (ICMM) in Hong Kong. Our goal is to be a central location for a wide variety of ocean-related exhibits related to maritime heritage, culture, climate, art, science, and other examples of the important role that the ocean plays in our lives. By engaging the members of the ICMM, we hope to expand the maritime collection found at
World Ocean Exhibits. Subjects include exploration, maritime culture, art, literature, shipping and ship building, transportation, trade, and more. We are seeking focused, evocative, timely subject matter that is well-suited for schools, libraries, museums, aquaria, and other educational organizations.
