East is the new West
call for artists' books, multiples, and printed matter
"East is the new West” is seeking artists' books and printed matter, artists' multiples and non-catalogue publications produced by artists and organizations in Atlantic Canada, to be exhibited and sold at a booth for the Vancouver Art/Book Fair, being held at the Vancouver Art Gallery on October 17 & 18.
Artists will receive 100% of any sales made at the fair.
“East is the new West” is a project by New Brunswick-based artist sophia bartholomew in partnership with Connexion ARC. Work from Newfoundland and Labrador will be co-curated by Mireille Eagan; work from Nova Scotia co-curated by Katie Belcher at Eyelevel Gallery.
We are asking that artists submit up to 12 copies of their work. Please include with your submission 1) your name 2) your phone number & email 3) the “cover price” of your work 4) relevant information about yourself or the project.
HALIFAX, September 16
Nova Scotia submissions should be dropped off at Eyelevel Gallery’s office (Suite 101, 5663 Cornwallis Street), on September 15 or 16, during office hours (12 – 5).
NEW BRUNSWICK, September 16, 17
SACKVILLE submissions should be dropped off at Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre (7 Lorne Street) during office hours (9 – 5); MONCTON submissions should be dropped off at Galerie Sans Nom (140 Botsford Street) during office hours (11 – 5); SAINT JOHN artists should leave their work in the designated box at Third Space Gallery (49 Canterbury Street) on September 16 or 17.
FREDERICTON submissions should be dropped off at Connexion ARC (732 Charlotte Street) on Friday, September 18, during office hours (12 – 6).
NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR, September 17, 18
Submissions from Newfoundland and Labrador-based artists should be dropped off at Eastern Edge (72 Harbour Drive), attn.: Mireille Eagan "East is the new West" on September 17 or 18, during office hours (12 to 5), or can be sent by mail to:

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, September 18
Prince Edward Island artists should submit digital images and relevant information concerning their bookwork or multiples to sophia (dot) bartholomew (at) gmail (dot) com by September 18.
Selections will be made on September 21.
Non-selected projects should be picked up during office hours, September 23, 24 or 25. Materials accompanied by self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage will be returned by mail.
Remaining stock from selected projects will be returned to artists in late October, along with cash from any sales.
