6 suicide resources you should know about in Licking County
09/15/2015 LICKING COUNTY, OHIO – Licking County is rich in resources that can help its people during Suicide Prevention Month, and beyond. Here are six great mental health resources in Licking County that are provided in part by Mental Health and Recovery (MHR) for Licking and Knox Counties (the Community Mental Health Board) and Mental Health America (MHA) of Licking County, plus more:
  1. THE HOTLINE: Not just any hotline – one that has a suicide follow-up program! Pathways of Central Ohio has 211. This is a 24/7 Crisis Hotline and Information Center that not only takes crisis calls, but follows-up with those at risk of suicide.
  2. EDUCATION: MHA has a Suicide Prevention Program that provides Signs of Suicide (SOS) training throughout the county’s middle and high schools.They also provide adult Gatekeeper Training about the signs of suicide to businesses and organizations in the county. Call them to schedule your workplace training today!
  3. SUPPORT: MHA provides a monthly support group for people who are survivors of suicide loss. And they coordinate the county’s Suicide Prevention Coalition. Two ways you can get involved in the conversation today.
  4. INTERVENTION: Behavioral Healthcare Partners’ Crisis Intervention/Emergency Services are provided 24/7 for youth and adults experiencing a mental health or alcohol/drug crisis. So help is always available, no matter the time or day.
  5. PREVENTION: The Kids’ Mobile Crisis Team serves youth ages 8 – 24 during crisis that present a risk to themselves, their families, or others due to mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.
  6. ACTION: MHR funds an eight-hour Mental Health First Aid training that teaches anyone in the community how to assist when someone is experiencing a mental health issue. Between the MHR and MHA staff, there are two trainers for the adult version and five trainers for the youth version.
