Final Installment of the Biking and Yoga Series
+ International Coastal Cleanup!
Saturday, Sept 19th, 8:00-10:30am

Join us and Newport Yogis for the final installment of the summer â€ªbiking‬ and â€ªyoga‬ series! Meet at Reject's Beach at 8am for a yoga class, then bike around the Drive at 9:45am. BYO mat/towel, suggested donation of $10. Saturday also marks the 30th International Coastal Cleanup - so in partnership with Clean Ocean Access, we'll do a quick beach cleanup in between the class and the ride. Note: this ride will take the place of the regular Bike Newport Saturday group ride.

Check Out the Highest View in Newport!
Miantonomi Open Tower
Sundays, Sept 20th & 27th, 10am-1pm

Looking for a new and different bicycling destination? Check out Open Tower at Miantonomi Park - great for road or mountain biking. This is a collaborative effort with the City of Newport, the Aquidneck Land Trust, and Bike Newport to provide locals and visitors alike with an opportunity to climb historic Miantonomi Tower, the highest point in Newport. You can see Block Island on a clear day! Visit from 10am-1pm.

Dedication of the George Redman Linear Park
Monday, Sept 21st, 10:00am

Ridden the East Bay Bike Path lately? Construction on the Washington Bridge, connecting East Providence to India Point Park in Providence, is complete â€“ transforming the original bike path into an 11-foot bikeway with a separate seven-foot walking path. On Monday morning, it will be dedicated in honor of the late George Redman, an East Providence resident and advocate for bike path development across Rhode Island.

Join us at the ceremony in Providence, or ride with Bike Newport program manager Liza from Bristol at 8:30am. Governor Gina Raimondo, RI DEM Director Janet Coit, and bike advocates and enthusiasts from around the state will be in attendance to celebrate this vital and improved connection. Email Liza if interested in riding from Bristol!

Florence Gray Center Open House &
Newport Health Equity Zone Launch
Wednesday, Sept 23rd, 4-7pm

Bike Newport loves having our Bike Garage North at the Florence Gray Center (1 York St), sharing space with many vital community organizations. On Wed, Sept 23rd from 4-6pm, the FGC will host an open house: meet the staff, tour the space, sign up for programs, socialize with neighbors, and see what your community has to offer! For more information contact: Debbie Bailey at 401-239-0987 or dbailey@bgcnewport.org

Right after, the Newport Health Equity Zone (HEZ), a project we are excited to be part of, is celebrating its official launch. Newport HEZ is about getting people excited and engaged about health for all. This four-year project, funded by the Rhode Island Department of Health, will focus on two Newport neighborhoods to learn from residents how to change health outcomes for the better.
