Robert Gogia has lived at the Selby Hotel since October of 1998. Prior to his move in, he was in danger of becoming homeless after his wife passed away. Mr. Gogia could no longer afford the apartment they lived in and was unable to work due to his disability. He has lived in Hollywood for almost 50 years, and is proud of the building and of his neighborhood stating, “I have seen a lot of changes here, and I know a lot of people. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.” On a fixed income, he says that supportive housing allows him to live independently. Mr. Gogia has a piano in his apartment, and you can often hear the sound of his music filling the hall. He is one of the many success stories at Selby Hotel.

Please support Mr. Gogia and the other tenants by helping us increase our supportive services at the Selby Hotel—the second oldest property in our portfolio!  As one of our earliest supportive housing communities, long-term tenants are now aging in place and service needs are increasing. ACOF is dedicated to increasing our staff-to-tenant ratio to provide more comprehensive services to those who need them. To support us, please give today and help us to continue in advancing our mission—to end homelessness through the provision of quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness.

Can you help us raise $3,000 on Giving Tuesday? Please consider ACOF for your charitable Giving Tuesday organization on November 28, 2017, and share with your friends and colleagues.

And we’ve made giving easy by using your smartphone. Simply text HOMES to 41444 along with your Name and your desired Donation AmountTogether we can end homelessness one person at a time!
