A heads up on some feedback we've been gathering from our Building Guide website that has great news for the Design Guide and Building Guide magazines and websites. See below for more details - we're blown away by the results!

The next issue of The Design Guide is themed 'Colour in Architecture' and will be out just in time for Christmas. Find out more, here...
Hi <<First Name>>

The next Design Guide issue, Auckland edition of the Building Guide editions and the next BoB are all coming up before Xmas - these hit designers, consumers and, of course, builders while they're in buying and specifying mode!

The website numbers are stellar and demand for the magazines is skyrocketing. If you want to hit people who are buying building products, our offering is by far the best option...

As mentioned above, we've been running a survey on the Building Guide website for just over a week now. Each publication has its niche, of course, but both our Design Guide, which targets architects and their clients, and the Building Guide (which is outstanding) perform extremely well.

The Design Guide has a much narrower readership than any of the other publications - we don't do recipes and we really target people who are actually wanting to build or renovate, not just wanting to replace a tap or buy a new chair. The Building Guide has a broader readership of anyone wanting to build, and most significantly, 80% of people who haven't got the BG yet want it!
80-90% are just starting out when they come to the Building Guide website. We're the first stop for people wanting to build because we're so well optimised on Google.
Where people are going on the internet...

Again, because the overwhelming number of respondents are just starting out (around 80%), that's going to affect the results.

Consumers start with Google. Pinterest scores remarkably high and Design Guide is outstanding!

PS:  The list of websites doesn't include the Building Guide, because 100% of the respondents are already there!
Magazines are still in the mix. Even though respondents are just starting out, 20% of them have already grabbed a magazine and we figure that will grow as they work through their project, looking for ideas.

What blew us away was how well the Building Guide and The Design Guide perform. We've always set out to work on distribution channels to get the publications into the hands of the right people, but this reinforces how successful we've been.

(We suspect there may a degree of skew happening here, since the group we're surveying are in our 'universe', but even so, we're pleasantly surprised at how well we've done compared to other, longerstanding publications).
80% of the respondents who don't yet have a Building Guide, want one!

(And there's at least 3 confident people out of the 45 who answered who are happy to just trust their builder...)

Our next Design Guide Theme: Colour in Architecture

Our new Design Guide has sold out already in many shops around the country and a second shipment has had to be rushed in.

We're busy on our next edition, due out end of November looking at the role of colour in architecture: exterior as well as interior and the often undefined space between the two.

This latest issue looks stunning and the content is second to none, with award-winning architects from New Zealand, Australia and elsewhere, writing about house design.

The Design Guide:
  1. Specifically targets people who want to buy your product.
  2. Is beautifully designed so your product looks great sitting within it.
  3. Has great, informative content so your market wants to read it and become emotionally involved with it.
  4. Has long shelf-life and is reasonably priced to ensure a good ROI.
If you're targeting consumers building high-end architectural homes, and their architects in one package, The Design Guide should be on your schedule.

BoB - the BEST Builders' Mag

Our next BoB is coming up in December, too, hitting around 15,000 RMBs, NZCBs and LBPs around the country!

BoB is unique in that it's bi-annual, it's fiercely independent so we're free to criticise whoever we like (and we do), and it's packed full of useful information for builders, so they read it.

We are now distributing to the 15,000 Building Hub members, so it's guaranteed to hit more builders than ever before... Email Mirvin here if you'd like to know more...

The Building Guide Website keeps growing in traffic...

Traffic continues to build up from the last email I sent out by around 1500 more people per month and now hitting around 22,500 kiwis each month.

We're in the middle of running a survey on the BG website, too and here are some things we've found out:
  1. 80% of the visitors are just starting out and are information gathering
  2. Magazines remain the second biggest source of ideas and information for people who are building
  3. A high percentage of our visitors have used the Design Guide for inspiration, and 90% of those who haven't got that far yet, want the Building Guide for their build.

4500 of them are returning for more information each month and to look for products and services for their project. They come back because they're building: we simply don't do recipes.

We  are #1 on Google for 'Cost of Building in NZ' and 'Exterior (and Building) Cladding', 'Building Advice', 'Renovation Advice', 'Building Guide' and right up there for 'Building in NZ', 'Building Houses in NZ' and more.

4500 people per month look at products listed on our site and almost 2000 people are looking at the builders on the site, too. We can put you in there, too, and it's extremely cost-effective.
