Predictions of Apple's doom, a history of (30 years) of PowerPoint, how much energy is expended to power your digital life, looking back on Uber's first pitch deck, how to arrange the icons on your phone, and how to find out if someone can sell water. Plus high-tech coffee grinders.

five ideas and one coffee

Welcome to five ideas and one coffee. Each week, a combination of what's going on in the ongoing convergence of digital and social media, and how that impacts the way we communicate. Plus, something I learned about coffee this week. Let's get started!

Five Ideas.

Idea One:
A brief history of Apple being doomed (in-depth business strategy things)

Idea Two:
A history of the 30 years of PowerPoint so far. (Worth it for the small gallery of three images from PowerPoint 1.0 in 1987).

Idea Three:
It's a catchy headline: One Bitcoin Transaction Now Uses as Much Energy as Your House in a Week, and is based on some speculative data, but it's a chance to reflect: how much energy is expended to power our digital lives?

Idea Four:
Looking back on Uber's first pitch deck is a trip back in time, in more ways than one. Pictures of old, already extinct phones combine with a very different vision for Uber (before all the scandals).

Idea Five (the how-to's):
How to:

One Coffee.

This year, I'd like to hear from you about what you've learned over coffee. In the meantime, the level of technology in new grinders is quite scary.

... that's it!

See you next week. Hit reply if you've learned something, or if you'd like to suggest an idea or a coffee.
