Future Perspectives cordially invites you as a leader, decision-maker or scholar to a  forum for sharing expert knowledge, skill and experience. The aim of these discussions is to acknowledge  the current challenges that the for-purpose sector faces. Our speakers will be sharing ways to address the complex and changing world through insight and action.

This final 2017 event will take place in Cape Town on 16th November 2017, and will be presenting the following topics by relevant experts in those disciplines

Responsible and Impact Investment

Jon Duncan - Old Mutual Investment Group

Head of Responsible Investment, Old Mutual Group

Senior Associate of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

Jon Duncan leads the Responsible Investment Programme at Old Mutual. The Programme is focused on driving the systematic integration of material environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues across the Group’s c£380 billion of funds under management. Jon also heads up the Sustainability Research and Engagement function at the Group’s South Africa-based asset manager, Old Mutual Investment Group, where he is involved in industry ESG research, the analysis of green growth opportunities, and engagement on regulatory issues and local industry initiatives, such as the Code for Responsible Investing South Africa (CRISA). Jon was involved in the drafting of CRISA and currently sits on the CRISA committee that drives the application of the Code in South Africa.

Suzette Vivivers - Stellenbosch University

Professor in the Department of Business Management at Stellenbosch University

Suzette is a Professor in the Department of Business Management at Stellenbosch University. Her research interest centre on different aspects of responsible investing, including impact investing and shareholder activism. She has also published and presented papers on other corporate governance topics such as board gender diversity and executive remuneration.

Greg van der Watt - ELMA Philanthropies

Director of Finance for the ELMA Philanthropies Service (Africa)

Greg is a proud husband and dad of two, currently working as the Director of Finance for the ELMA Philanthropies Service (Africa). The ELMA Philanthropies Services is the services arm of The ELMA Group of Foundations. From locations in New YorkCape Town, Johannesburg, and Kampala, The ELMA Philanthropies team develops program strategies, identifies and explores investment opportunities, monitors and evaluates investment performance, and manages strategic partnerships for The ELMA Group of Foundations. The ELMA Group of Foundations provides sizeable philanthropic assistance to high-impact initiatives within each foundation’s area of focus. Having training as a Chartered Accountant, he has been with ELMA now for 7 years.
