ILF Stands for International Limb Fitting. THose of you that own your own bows - you most likely have ILF limbs and risers. ILF refers to the attachment point which allows the riser and limbs to connect. Your riser could be made by company "A" while the limbs from company "B" and, due to the ILF connection point, the limbs and riser will fit together.
As we grow as archers, either in strength and/or in height, it may be necessary to upgrade limbs. But how much draw weight should your new limbs be? Well, it is generally recommended that you increase draw weight by 2# at a time so as to maintain proper form and reduce risk of injury. Now here is a likely scenario: Your first bow started with 20# limbs and you want to eventually get to 40# limbs so you can shoot 70 meters, outdoors, effectively. That would mean you would need to either purchase ten more pairs of limbs, in 2# increments, or you purchase something roughly in the middle and hope you grow into it. Neither of these strategies are good options. One demands a massive amount of financial investment while the other most certainly will lead to an inability to perform proper form, increased rate of injury and frustration. What is an archer or parent of archer to do?
