Rivers Casino and Resort Revitalizes Surrounding Area

After a $450 million private investment to revitalize the land of one of the oldest brownfields in the United States, Rivers Casino and Resort, owned by Rush Street Gaming, is an integral part of a mixed-use development that will help to attract tourists, raise employment and increase revenue for the city. To create a wayfinding program for this complex and lively area, Entro collaborated with Klai Juba Wald Architects and interior design firm Cleo Design. Beyond moving guests throughout the casino and resort with ease, our vision was to contribute to the excitement and vibe of this revitalized place and to promote the discovery, use and enjoyment of all the available amenities and features.

Artscape Hub in Weston Common To Open Fall 2018

At the heart of Weston Common is Artscape Hub, a re-imagined community gathering place featuring over 20,000 sqf of indoor and outdoor programming space dedicated for arts and cultural events. Currently under development and with a community-led vision to make Weston Common "a gathering place that welcomes and is open to the whole of this community", this hub is the result of an innovative partnership and true exercise in placemaking between Artscape, the City of Toronto, the Rockport Group and capital partner Woodbourne Capital Management. Entro was part of the visioning team and developed the name (together with Artscape and the Rockport Group) and identity for Weston Common. As the project continues to take shape, we will continue to extend the brand work to interior and exterior wayfinding signage and environmental graphics.

World Design Summit: Solving Global Issues Through Design   Entrospective: 'Meander' by Vedran Dzebic

The World Design Summit in October was a gathering of 50 international organizations to create a plan for harnessing the power of design to address pressing global challenges. Entro’s Udo Schliemann presented at the summit on experiential graphic design and its ability to create a unified sense of place for people of diverse cultural backgrounds. The Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) also asked Udo to provide his insights and perspective for a Design Collaboration Roundtable they led at the summit.

Earlier this year we welcomed cognitive neuroscientist Vedran Dzebic to the Entro team. Vedran is currently defending his PhD dissertation at the University of Waterloo, and uses innovative techniques and approaches to highlight how the physical design of space influences how we feel, behave and think. Recently he wrote the Entrospective 'Meander' as a response to the the increasing and varied ways we rely on technology, and how they affect our relationship with the world around us.
