Where the Earth Meets the Sky
TODAY, Sunday, November 12, 2017, 4:00pm
MHS Performing Arts Center
200 La Rosa Lane, Middletown, CT
The GMChorale opens the 2017-2018 “Resounding Voices” season this afternoon with a program of evocative choral music that explores our connections to the earth and to each other. Where the Earth Meets the Sky includes beautiful settings of poetry by Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, and John Rutter, as well as lyrics from Native American, Shaker, and American folk traditions.
Artistic Director Joseph D’Eugenio has selected a wide-ranging program with music of many moods – rousing, poignant, contemplative, subtle, and ecstatic – to showcase the “resounding voices” of the GMChorale. The Middletown High School Chorus will join the GMChorale in several selections, adding the luster of their young voices to the resonant GMChorale sound. Flute, percussion, and a second piano will add to the resonance!
