Greetings from the Philippine Rice Research Institute! This is the November issue of our e-newsletter.
As you may well know, November is special to us—it’s our anniv month! Hence, we have got some special stories for you.
In our “Featured Scientist” section, we tell you about Dr. Reynante L. Ordonio. He is among PhilRice’s promising young scientists. He works on plant molecular breeding and genetic engineering.
Meanwhile, in our “Featured Research” section we share about new breeding lines for drought-submergence tolerance, and a new multi-purpose seeder, which is now on its final field testing.
From our branch station, a PhilRice Midsayap study has identified a variety that can thrive well in General Santos City. See the full story on this link.
November is National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM). On November 6, the event kicked-off at Liwasang Aurora, Quezon City Memorial Circle with Piolo Pascual together with the other rice ambassadors. Want to know how you can be RICEponsible? Check this link and the Be RICEponsible Facebook page.
And since it is our 32nd anniversary, we have recognized our staff members who have done exemplary work during the past year in our Dangal ng PhilRice ceremonies. Photos here. Other photos during our week-long celebration are also available.
We would like to hear from you. Please send us an email at prri.mail@philrice.gov.ph .
