MILLENNIALS MAKE A FASHION STATEMENT WITH ACCESSORIES

A MILLENNIAL SHIFT IN DATING BEHAVIOURS AND PATTERNS

Since its first introduction in the 1990s, online dating has become a new and popular way to meet a significant other for millennials. Dating sites have made significant impacts upon millennials’ dating behaviours and patterns. Now, evidence has it that online dating will shift the nature of society as a whole.

Researchers, Josue Ortega and Philipp Hergovich, reveal the first evidence to show a shift in society thanks to online dating. The loose ties of a social network used to be the catalyst of relationships, but today, youngsters are open to meet strangers, creating previously non-existent social links. By forming models with low and high interracial encounters, the evidence points to a change in racial diversity and an evolution of interracial marriages. Through comparison, there is an indirect positive correlation with the successes in marriage. Couples who met online obtain lower rates of breakups compared to those who met traditionally. Online dating is seen to continue to change patterns and benefit individuals’ well-being in relationships.
