Well done to Alan Henderson, one of 1LET's Property Managers. After joining the team in February, he has steadily been studying towards the NFoPP Technical Award in Scottish Residential Letting & Property Management. Having passed the first two units Alan is now studying for the next two. Well done Alan and good luck for your future exams!

We are delighted to be supporting Blackhall Athletic boys football team through sponsorship of their new strips. Last month Alan was able to go along to a training night and meet the team and their managers before presenting them with their new strips.

The 1LET team wishes them good luck in the forthcoming season.

Forth Valley Chorus compete in Las Vegas

Congratulations to Forth Valley Chorus who have recently returned from the Sweet Adelines International Competition and Convention in Las Vegas.

Their performance in the semi-finals led to an award for 11th place, making them the first UK chorus ever to score as highly. This allowed them to open the finals of the competition as mic warmers, where they received a standing ovation at the end of their performance! They sang a package of songs and finished with a very Scottish number – "Mairi’s Wedding". They certainly put Scotland, and the chorus, on the map in the USA!

Forth Valley Chorus is a women’s Barbershop Chorus of 107 ladies directed by David Sangster. Elspeth Muir, an accountant, friend and colleague of the 1LET team, has been a member of the choir for 20 years now.

The Private Residential Tenancy

The Scottish Association of Landlords recently published a useful video exploring the new Private Residential Tenancy. From 01 December 2017, all new tenancies in Scotland will last until a tenant wishes to leave the property or a landlord uses one of 18 grounds for eviction. Click below to find out more.

Model Tenancy Agreement for Private Residential Tenancies

Last month we sent out an update regarding the model tenancy agreement for Private Residential Tenancies. Click below to read the update.

1LET are currently analysing the wording of the lease and are considering additional clauses/amendments for inclusion. The new agreement will then be used for all new tenancies that commence on or after 01 December 2017. We will be contacting all landlords with an update in due course.

National Landlord Day 2017

Growing in scope and size every year, National Landlord Day 2017 will take place on Tuesday 14 November 2017 at Edinburgh's Dynamic Earth.

With the BBC's Sally Magnusson in the chair, speakers and panelists will address all the essential topics ranging from welfare reform to upcoming energy efficiency rules and legislation changes as well as of course the biggest change in Scottish lettings in 30 years in the new Private Residential Tenancy.

Citylets Quarterly Report for Q3

The latest Citylets Quarterly Report for Q3 2017 (1st July – 30th September) records a slowing of annual growth in the central belt resulting in mild negative growth for the country as a whole at -0.4%

Rents in Aberdeen continued their current stabilising trajectory at minus 6.6% year on year.

Edinburgh recorded 3.5% growth with Glasgow up 1.9%, a fall from 5% last quarter. Markets in other major areas including Dundee, West Lothian and South Lanarkshire recorded mixed fortunes with Renfrewshire posting notable 4.9% annual growth.
