The march to the end of the 2017!
Welcome to November! It feels like just when we get the start of the school year under our belt, it is time to race into the holidays and the end of the year. Where does the time go? Regardless, of how busy we are at the school we are reminded at this time of year to pause and be thankful for your family and your sweet children. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your child's life and education.

This month we hosted an opportunity for parents to observe in their child's class room; to experience the way work happens in a Montessori class. Followed by parent/teacher conferences. We thank each of you for being present at these events as we enjoy spreading the magic of how a Montessori class works. Also this month, there are monthly tours for prospective families on the calendar. If you have family or friends who you know are looking for a school, please refer them to one of our upcoming events. You are our best referral!

On November 21st, we have a noon release that allows for us to spend time together as a community. Make sure you read all the details below about our Annual Soup Feast & Craft Sale. This is one of our favorite community events of the year and we hope to see you there!

The life of a school is fast paced and full of rich moments and we are thankful for it all!

Blessings!
Katie & Erin

Annual Soup Feast & Craft Sale

November 21, 2017 @ 12:00pm

Mark your calendars and be sure not to miss this special Thanksgiving event! On November 21st, immediately following noon dismissal, we will gather as a community to share a soup feast together. Your kids (and their teachers) will be our chefs for the day and there will be a variety of soup options for varied dietary needs. All you will have to do is eat and enjoy!

Please bring bowls and silverware for your family. We will have cups, napkins and some paper goods available if you aren't able to bring containers. There are always soup leftovers, so bring a to-go container if you find a favorite you'd like more of later.

Following the feast the Elementary students run a craft sale that benefits Heifer International. Our students have been crafting diligently so that you have a fun selection of items to buy for holiday gifts. All proceeds from the craft sale go directly to supporting Heifer International and the work that they do world-wide to end hunger and poverty.

We will need many volunteers to make this community event a success! Please sign-up to bring a needed item or to help set-up and breakdown the event. Volunteer sign up sheet.

Annual Fund

100% Participation

When you enrolled your student at SVMS, you made a decision that will impact your child's love of learning for the rest of their life. Maria Montessori believed that education should nourish the whole child, and that children learn best when they have freedom to make choices about their work. Well over one hundred years later, we are dedicated to continuing the work of Dr. Montessori.

For those of you who were able to attend the Parent & Child Night, you witnessed first-hand our core values in action. We take pride in the fact that our students have the ability to see the world accurately, choose wisely and humanely, lead confidently and take on the challenges of living compassionately.

Implementing the programs that make teaching these core values possible, takes financial resources. In order to meet our financial goals each year it is necessary for us to actively raise funds. A part of that fundraising is a yearly Annual Fund drive that we began in October with an Ice Cream Social provided by Kilwin's. Those who were able to attend received an folder with our Fundraising plan for the year as well as Annual Fund information and donor cards. If you did not receive a folder yet, we will be distributing them during carline over the next few weeks.

Please consider what you can contribute to this valuable fund that supports all the wonderful things that we do here at SVMS, as well as, our ability to grow and to be accessible to all families. Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year and we are looking for 100% parent, staff and board participation this year. So keep an eye out for more details about the Annual Fund and help us secure more outside funding by demonstrating your dedication to SVMS. Let's do it with 100% participation!
Thank you!

We wish we had the time to thank each and everyone of you personally for the time, money or resources you give to us to make what we do here at SVMS possible. We are so grateful and hope to be able list our volunteers for the month here. So, please log your hours as you go so that we can thank you!
