Dear Norquay subscribers,

We kicked off our 2017-18 season in serious style, with almost 400 skiers and riders hitting the slopes to mark our opening day last Friday – and making first tracks in Canada.

Thanks to your support as our loyal skiers, riders and visitors, a super effort from our expert team, and some help from Mother Nature, it's been an amazing start to winter.
 
Gifted with 45cm of natural snowfall late last week – plus day-to-night snowmaking – we were ready to say hello to winter and welcome back snow seekers to the #MightyQuay. The Cascade Chairlift, and five features of the terrain park, were ready and waiting from 11:30am – and those early snowbirds were ready to get in on the action!
 
Taking the title as Canada’s first ski resort to open this winter, we were visited by a number of camera crews and reporters mountain-side! See one clip from CTV News Calgary here.

SCHOOL IS IN SESSION: NORQUAY’S EARLIEST LESSONS IN MEMORY
 
And it wasn’t only the resort that was getting things going early, with Norquay’s Snow School Instructors taking out their first groups of the season over the opening weekend.

And Gord Fielding, our Snow School Director, was stoked: “It’s certainly been the earliest I can recall, that we’ve been able to host lessons out on the mountain. It was just awesome! Everyone was happy to be back out on the slopes and starting off the ski season so early.”

Speaking of lessons, there are some final places left for our Snow School PD Fridays – the best babysitting option in the Bow Valley! Why not take the learning outside for winter PD days, and let your little rippers make the most of school’s-out-time to spruce up their slope skills?

Our PD Day Program runs each Friday for 8 weeks, offering half-day teaching with Norquay’s expert instructors, designed for kids aged seven and up. Plus, getting here is a breeze: we offer dedicated PD Day shuttle bus services from Canmore Recreation Centre and Banff Elementary School, directly to Norquay.
