RECENT COMPETITIONS

HEARTS PREMIER MEET, 8-9 OCTOBER

Congratulations to all the swimmers who took part in this competition at Prestonpans.  We had 34 swimmers and achieved a wonderful 100 PBs. The best PB of the weekend was Joshua Drainer who took an amazing 31.26 seconds off his 200 fly – well done, Joshua! For 50m and 100m events, it was lovely to see 5 out of 6 boys in the fastest heats for the 14 year age group from Inverleith. Angus Allison got top boy in the 14 year old age group and Felix Hale came second; and Michael Skakle came second in the 11 and under age group. Inverleith came third overall out of eighteen clubs – and all the swimmers contributed to that.

EAST DISTRICT TIME TRIAL
28TH & 29TH OCTOBER

Well done to all the swimmers who took part in this event. It was just a time trial so there were no awards. We managed 34PB’s over the two days which was great. Felix Hale took over 2 minutes off his 1500F/C in a fantastic swim. He did make the ED consideration time but decided to concentrate on his 400’s.
Thanks to Hilary & Angie for helping poolside.

FUNDRAISING FOR PERFORMANCE SWIM CAMP

Fundraising for Performance Camp: bag packing in Tesco Leith on 21 January 2018

Performance swimmers are heading off to Spain for camp in February 2018.

The club is taking an appropriate ratio of adults to swimmers on camp and the club, not the parents, is subsidising the adults to attend camp.

In order to replenish club funds and contribute to the camp, we have arranged to bag pack at Tesco Leith (Duke Street) on 21 January 2018.

We are only expecting Performance swimmers to participate in the bag pack and we would like each swimmer to bag pack for at least an hour on that day. It would also be helpful if parents of Performance swimmers would be prepared to help.

The bag packing will take place from 10-4 on Sunday 21 January 2018. If you could get in touch with Shona Skakle about when you/swimmers are available, we’ll try to work out a rota that is fair to everyone.

You know the email address!

SWIM SHOP - ANGELA BRYCE

A note from Angie.

You may have noticed some swimmers sporting their names on the swim caps. This has been a recent development and since introducing the named caps, I've had some really positive feedback.

All of the swimmers who ordered a cap are loving their names being visible. It is really helpful at competitions as officials can see at a glance the correct swimmer is in the appropriate lane!!   I am sure the coaches will also find caps that end up in lost property are easily identifiable and returned to the correct swimmer.  Feedback at competitions has also been positive.

As an order for a named cap can only be placed when putting in a bigger order for the basic logo cap, it will be a few months before I can take further named cap orders.  I will notify parents when this will happen.

There will be some changes happening with the gear shop.  I am no longer going to be stocking fins and float packs (including
kick boards and pull buoys).   There is no competing with internet prices and all remaining stock will be sold off at the club championships.  The shop will still continue to sell t-shirts, caps, hoodies and swim caps etc.

I will continue to sell shop items at internal competitions and will be on the balcony at Leith Victoria during warm up time. Out with this, I am normally at Leith Victoria on Sunday evenings at 6pm when I am poolside and will also meet parents by prior negotiation.  I would ask if we have arranged to meet, that you please turn up at the agreed date and time. I have frequently rushed to LV to meet parents only to be left waiting with many parents not showing up.

I look forward to seeing you at the club championships.

Angie
