Oh no!
NOT Another Gelogenic* Meeting (AGM)

We have postponed our first ever AGM to early December.
Yes, it might seem laughable (gelogenic---who ever came up with that obscure word???) but there is a good reason for it.

We believe that Simon Sinek has it right (The Why): in today’s world business without purpose (as well as profit) is unthinkable for Millenials.  As it should be for all of us.

So we Drivers at Startup and Innovation Tablelands (ST) truly believe that we have to define our largest purpose and let everyone know what our purpose is and that our purpose motivates us.

We have to have time to tell that story as well as an undistracted audience to tell it to.   We owe it to you, our members and supporters, to take the time to tell what our WHY is and to find out from you if it aligns with your WHY.

We plan to do that in December so that it can be a first AGM (and, yes, let’s have a laugh!), a birthday party for our newly acquired independence through our recent incorporation, and a talk about purpose, ours and yours, all at the same time.

Please watch this space!  The details will come out as soon as we dream them up! (or should we gelogenicly laugh them up?)

We wish to invite you to the official launch of the Emerging Entrepreneurs Program on the Tablelands in conjunction with the screening of the recently release “Most Likely to Succeed”.
Attention all Schools, Teachers, Educators, Parents and Students from across the greater Tablelands region, this is a not to be missed movie screening event and information session about an important program for the Youth of our region.

When: Wednesday 15th November
Where: Destiny Café, Loder St, Atherton QLD 4883
Who: Teachers, educators, parents, students
Tickets: $10

Futurist Dr Colin Russo : Co-Creating Better Futures Today

You might be one of many to ask: What the devil is a futurist?

Startup and Innovation Tablelands (ST) and the Atherton Tablelands Chamber of Commerce (ATCC) are proud to be working with the National Disability Services (NDS) to host this important event for the Atherton business community.

This partnership event will showcase the substantial opportunities businesses, start-ups, mainstream services, existing disability service providers and innovation that is presented to the Tablelands by the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) – the new approach to disability futures. The NDIS is the largest social reform in Australia since the introduction of Medicare.
ST and ATCC see this as a great opportunity to work with NDS to test out new ideas and possibilities that totally align with our WHY for existing! Both ATCC and ST are here to:
•strengthen the business community and whole of the Tablelands,
•help young and old to see and seize the opportunities in business offered by our brave new world of computers everywhere,
•create job opportunities,
•see the Tablelands’ abundant natural and human resources put to their most
•resilient and sustainable purpose in a modernised business atmosphere.
Back to the question, what the devil is a futurist? We are always creating tomorrow today. If we as individuals, businesses, governments and communities, want to solve tomorrow’s problems today, we need to build our foresight capabilities to critically question whether we are creating the tomorrow we want.

Dr Colin Russo will highlight local and global disruptive trends impacting on our businesses and communities – including the NDIS; share how to utilise internationally accredited strategic foresight tools and methods; and present best practice options on how to co-create our preferred futures.
