Opportunity Alert:    Student Essay Contest

Foreign Affairs and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy want to give tomorrow's leaders the opportunity to demonstrate innovative thinking on the issues that shape their world. 

In the 2017 Student Essay Competition, a panel from the Foreign Affairs editorial staff and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy will select one undergraduate's essay to be published on the Foreign Affairs Web site. Submit your essay here.

Fellowship Spotlight
The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program
 
     The Pickering Fellowship includes up to $37,500 annually for a two-year master’s degree in fields related to the Foreign Service such as business administration, economics, public policy, international affairs, and other relevant fields.
      The program also includes two summer internships, one at a domestic office of the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and one overseas at a U.S. embassy or consulate. The program provides stipends, transportation and housing for these internships. Other benefits, such as mentoring from a Foreign Service Officer and employment at the completion of the program, are also included.

Student Experience Spotlight
Elvina Ganbarova is a second year graduate student, pursuing a master’s degree at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Born and raised in Kazakhstan, and Azeri by ethnicity, she is the president of the International Affairs Graduate Organization. She recently held an internship with the southeast regional office of UNICEF that allowed her to put her academic focus into practical experience.
