Important Meeting Nov. 15
The County is negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the San Rafael Airport to address three issues:
· Resolution of conflicting boundary information
· Long-term maintenance for the levees that surround the Airport
· Planning for future restoration of the land east of the runway
The document also outlines an interim plan for maintaining portions of the levees and channel along Gallinas Creek.
The County will be accepting public comments on the draft MOU. Comments and input are due by November 27, 2017 to dpwpubliccomments@marincounty.org
The County will be hosting a public meeting on November 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Embassy Suites San Rafael in the Novato/Larkspur Room to discuss and answer questions from the Zone 7 Advisory Board, the County Service Area 6 (Dredging) Advisory Board, and the public. The agenda will be available on the Zone 7 Advisory Board meetings webpage at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.
The Board of Supervisors will be considering the MOU at a future meeting after November 27, no date has been set at this time.
IT IS GWC's OPINION that this MOU is problematic due to historical ownership boundary issues that need to be resolved first before entering into any agreement. We need everybody to show up for this one and speak up for the watershed and the residents of Santa Venetia. With the Clapper Rail being driven from the North Fork of the Creek by SMART and the Airport construction, this MOU is grossly inadequate.

Instead of our regular meeting, we will be having dinner at Gaspare's Restaurant on 200 Merrydale Road on Wed. Dec. 6 at 6:30 pm. As a small nonprofit, we have to ask you to pay for your own dinner but we will supply a rousing toast to all our allies who have worked so hard this year for the benefit of the watershed! Please RSVP to let us know how many are coming so we know how many plates to set.
