HURRICANE HARVEY MAKES LANDFALL

Hurricane Harvey made landfall twice last night, first as a CAT4 then as a CAT1.  If that wasn't bad enough, the storm is expected to only downgrade to tropical storm strength and then remain at that strength and not move far for at least 3 days to as much as a week!

This is the first hurricane of this magnitude to hit the US since 2005, and there is very little historical data of a storm like Harvey, which makes it very difficult to make any accurate models of what Harvey might do.

One thing most agree on is that after the initial landfall and wind, there is going to be a lot of water dumped somewhere in TX.  With Harvey being as large as it is and remaining a tropical storm for at least several days, the storm will continue to feed moisture from the Gulf and dump it inland.  There is also a potential for tornadoes, rains, and hail not only in the storm area, but also in areas outside of the storm's vicinity.

We are in contact with some folks who live in or near the coastal areas of Texas and are praying to see how The LORD would have us be involved.  We are currently in the Chattanooga, TN area doing maintenance on our equipment with the help of our good friend Doug Walter. Steve & Deb Wurster are planning on joining us for a few days later this coming week.  Because Calvary Relief is just Mary Jo and I full-time, we end up doing all aspects involved with the ministry and have quite a list of things that need to be done since our last deployment of 14 months in CO.

If you have been affected by Harvey and need help, or are in the area and want to help for a long term response, please contact us ASAP.  When we respond, we only do it for the long-term and through locals as we become locals ourselves!

We will continue to pray and keep you updated via this email and our Facebook posts as we find out more .  Please continue to pray for those affected by Harvey, for the REAL first responders out risking their lives for others, and for those volunteers and organizations who want to help-- not only for their safety, but also for the sense to not just rush in and possibly create more issues and to think more about the long-term response!

If you wish to donate to help us with doing what The LORD has called us to do, you can click the green button below!

Thanks for the continued prayers and support!
