Bank Holiday Monday 28th August

A day for all the family - race in the morning - with prizes! Bring your own Barbeque and then games in the afternoon.  Much more fun than sitting in a traffic jam

And Don't Forget  Wednesday 30th August, share your supper after sailing.  Bring something to share and celebrate the end of the Summer Holidays with an evening sail.

Improving our facilities on and off the water

At the AGM in November 2016, the Main Committee agreed to look at the options for improving our storage facilities, based around replacing the existing sheds and containers.

In recent months three different options have been fully evaluated and costed, but the committee has decided not to proceed with any of them, at this moment. This is because everyone felt the benefits did not justify the significant financial outlay.  As a result, the funds that were earmarked for the work have been released. Instead we are proceeding with a number of other smaller initiatives that will directly improve members’ facilities both on and off the water. More detail on that in coming weeks.

An Important Message from Berthing

Could the owner of a Mirror dinghy number 66719 in berth C547 please contact the harbourmaster, as soon as possible.

The membership and berthing team spend many hours ensuring that boats are in the correct berths and stickers are produced for every member's boats.  Sadly there are about 100 2017 stickers still in the box in the hallway and not on boats and trailers.  It would help the harbourmaster greatly if you could just spend two minutes putting your stickers on.  This makes it possible to ensure new members can be allocated appropriate berths, and also means that you won't find your boat has been moved as it appears not to have a valid sticker for this year.

If you have any queries about your berthing, please contact Tony on harbourmaster@papercourt-sc.org.uk
Quiz Night - Saturday 7th October - Get Swotting

Booking is now open for the Quiz Night on Saturday 7th October.   The quiz nights are always very popular so don't delay booking - you can book as one person in couples or any combination up to 8 people.  You can book a table for your own team, or we will join you up with other people - just let us know when you book what you would like, or if there is anyone else you want to team up with who is booking seperately.
We know you are great sailors, now show us your brainly side too!

Aero News and Open Meeting - Saturday 30th September

Charter boats available

Papercourt is hosting our first RS Aero open on Saturday 30th September.  RS have agreed to provide three charter boats for the event, so if you fancy taking part, but don’t have an Aero, please let me know (e: mark.carleton@iee.org, m: 07715 114 165).

Firefly News and Open Meeting 8th October

A team of three boats from Papercourt SC went to the 71st Firefly Nationals at Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club. All crewed by 12 year olds and younger from the PSC youth section. They were the three youngest crews in the reggatta. Was a windy end to the week with wind in excess of 25knts.

All three teams did really well in a very competitive fleet.
The final results:
Ed and Sophie Smith 4th
Will and Polly Mason 9th
Jason and Toby Aldous 13th

Papercourt Firefly Open Meeting is on 8th October,
Lost Property

Lost property is initially put in the boxes in the changing rooms for a week or so, and then removed to the back office.  Once there our lost property guru Sue sorts it and if unclaimed after several weeks it is put on the rack in the front hall for sale.

Sue has just done a big sort so there are lots of items up for sale - please give money to the tea bar - honesty system.
