Online Equipment and Operation Efficiency Assessments for Public Schools from CIRMA & HSB - NEW!

CIRMA, working with our reinsurance partner the Hartford Steam Boiler Company (HSB), is helping our members save money and reduce losses by providing self-assessment tools and expert preventative maintenance resources for the care of their equipment.

HSB's Equipment Operation and Efficiency Program
On average, it costs $4.00 a square foot to heat, cool, and light a typical school building. This number is significantly higher than what schools spend on textbooks, computers, and supplies. The potential savings through improved energy efficiency is enormous. HSB suggests that improving energy efficiency can provide schools with an estimated saving of 20%, while yielding additional benefits for students, staff, and faculty, and members of the community.
So, how do you decide which energy efficient options have the best payback? HSB's Energy Savings Portal offers simple steps for schools to take to save energy and keep crucial equipment operating smoothly. CIRMA urges school facilities leaders and staff  to take full advantage of these resources!
Areas covered by the assessment:

  • Space heating
  • Lighting
  • Water heating
  • Space cooling
  • Ventilation
  • Cooking & refrigeration
  • Electrical

Please note: the HSB assessment portals are not compatible with Firefox browsers. Please access the portal via Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, or other browser.
