Drewsar Lagotto Romagnolo
Mari and Sara at Drewsar are pleased to introduce Liam as this week’s cover dog!
Liam started his show career at the 1st LRCC National Specialty in 2016, Liam was awarded the Best of Opposite in Sweeps at three months of age. He also earned Best Baby Puppy in Specialty at the same show.
In his first 3 outings, he was awarded the breed over 2 different specials and went on to win 2 Best Puppy in Groups. His sister Latte was also Best of Opposite over a special. In Liam’s next weekend out he won 3 more puppy groups! In only a handful of shows, he completed his championship and picked up several points toward his grand. On his last weekend he was shown as a puppy, he picked up 3 more puppy groups and a very competitive group 4th.
Liam then took some time off to let his sister, Latte, into the spotlight. After taking a backseat to her brother, she won the breed from the classes and onto a puppy group!
Liam and Latte took the summer months off of showing to enjoy growing up and taking full advantage of the pool!
We are very proud of our first generation of bred by Lagotto Romagnolo. Brooke – Drewsar First Impression went to her first shown picked up a few points and won a Bred By group! We are excited to have her in the Bred By class at the LRCC 2nd National Specialty this coming weekend. We will also be debuting our latest pride and joy Harper – Drewsar Caught Ya Lookin in the Baby Puppy class!
Liam and Latte come from a very successful litter with 2 littermates doing very well in the show ring around the world. Brother Will is a BPIS winner in Holland, sister Humlan 7 times shown in Jr. class and 7 class wins, many CAC’s in Norway and Sweden as well as many BOB Jr’s. Awarded from judges around the world including Lagotti breed specialist Gilberto Grandi. At the Norwegian Club show, their mom Multi Ch. Gleska Goody Two Shoes “Mocca” was awarded Best Bitch and BOB veteran. Their sister Humlan was the CAC winner from the Jr. class judges by breed specialist Gilberto Grandi. Many congratulations to breeder Camilla Backman & Ragnar Olofsson on breeding such beautiful and successful dogs!
Watch for Harper, Brooke, Liam and Latte with their Sara(h)’s in the ring this weekend at the Lagotto Romagnolo National Specialty!

Reserve Best In Show Awards
We learned some time ago, that at some point in 2018, points will be awarded for Reserve Best in Show wins in Canada
The dog awarded Reserve Best in Show will be awarded all of the points but the Group points, that the Best in Show winner came from.
For Example: A Siberian Husky goes BIS for 650 points, a Scottish Terrier goes RBIS, the Scottish Terrier will be awarded 650 points less the 150 Working dogs, Reserve Best in Show becomes worth 500 points, of course less absentee’s in the official count.
Below, are the current Top 15 Dogs in Canada used on the date below

Behind the Scene
Name: Wendy Anderson
Where you live: St. John’s Newfoundland
Kennel name: Winterholme Shih Tzu
1) If you could have another breed, what would it be?
Well, I actually have recently gotten a Pomeranian. It was a breed that my daughter wanted for a long time and finally I relented. No regrets though, as I find her delightful. She has a happy, sunny personality and much to the Shih Tzu's disgust, she has no rules and restrictions as she just goes right through the baby gate into the "no dog" zone. They have all blended perfectly though and she keeps all in line.
2) What was the last movie you saw at a theatre?
I saw Beauty and the Beast with my daughter on Mother's Day.
3) If you could only attend one "must do" show a year, what would it be?
I think it would have to be Westminster. The prestige of the show and excitement of being there, even if not competing, is palpable. That combined with New York itself, makes it one week I look forward to all year.
4) What show in Canada have you attended that always gives that little extra to their exhibitors, which makes it your favorite to attend?
There are two actually, one that I have had the opportunity to attend both as and exhibitor and as a judge is the Alberta Kennel Club, at the beautiful Spruce Meadows venue. I think they do a phenomenal job.
The other is one of my local shows, the Conception Bay Kennel Club, in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland. They are extremely friendly and welcoming and on Sunday provide a full home cooked lunch, for all exhibitors. You can't beat Newfie hospitality!
5) What is your favorite dog of all time?
Although, Stuart, the dog I am currently showing at home runs a very close second, I would have to say at this time it's "Jax" Multi BIS BISS Am & CanGrCh. Winterholme Any Way U Want It who is currently in the US with handler Mandy Carlson. I am so proud of his accomplishments, but also that he is such a great dog to live with. He has become part of Mandy's family and sleeps on the bed with her kids. He's always "on" in the ring and never quits.
6) What is a favorite grooming product or tool that you will not be without?
Every Shih Tzu person knows it's a brush.
7) How do you pick which shows you attend?
Most often it is by the time of year, and my availability to be able to go.
8) Besides your dogs, what other animals do you have?
I only have the dogs but used to have a horse years ago and enjoyed competing with her as well.
9) What is your favorite beverage?
I don't really have a favorite. I enjoy cooking, so I like to pair things with what I have prepared.
10) Name something that is on your "life" bucket list to do?
I want to go to Italy! I would love to do a Tuscan cooking, food and wine tour.
