Silence

"When you’ve been able to still all the noise inside of you, when you’ve been able to establish silence, a thundering silence, in you, you begin to hear the deepest kind of calling from within yourself. Your heart is calling out to you. Your heart is trying to tell you something, but you haven’t yet been able to hear it, because your mind has been full of noise."

-- Thich Nhat Hanh,

Documentary Film

Walk With Me

Walk With Me, the documentary film narrated by actor Benedict Cumberbatch about the Plum Village tradition featuring insights from Thich Nhat Hanh’s early journals, premiered this past week in New York at The Rubin Museum of Art. Directed by Marc J. Francis and Max Pugh and filmed over three years at Plum Village monastery, the film has not yet been released in Canada. Our sangha has been keeping in touch with the producers and Wendy Huot from the Screening Room, about bringing the film to Kingston. Stay tuned for updates.

Community Announcement

Collaborative Mural

Sangha members Susan Douthwaite and Wendy Luella Perkins (Soulful Singing, KUF Affiliated Community Minister) with their friend Melanie Reay, have been working on a large mural called "Turtles Down by the Shore" for the ON THE WALL! arts event, this Saturday, August 26th from 10:30 am - 4:30 pm, Douglas R. Fluhrer Park in Kingston. All are invited to help Susan, Wendy Luella and Melanie paint the back of their 12 foot turtle on Saturday! For details, follow this link to our new "Community Announcements" page.
The Happiness of Non-self

"As you progress on the path of insight into non-self, the happiness brought to you by love will increase. When people love each other, the distinction, the limits, the frontier between them begins to dissolve, and they become one with the person they love. There’s no longer any jealousy or anger, because if they are angry at the other person, they are angry at themselves. That is why non-self is not a theory, a doctrine, or an ideology, but a realization that can bring about a lot of happiness."

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
