Link Resolver and Knowledge Base – preparing for a new Service provider
To support the handover of up-to-date information on your organisation’s holdings (content purchased at a national, consortia or local level, Open Access content and local print journal holdings) please do not make any changes to your organisational and regional holdings in OCLC WorldShare after 31 August 2017. Any changes made after this date will not be visible at the start of the service in the new KnowledgeBase provided by Wolters Kluwer.
As was announced in July, the Link Resolver and Knowledge Base elements of Ovid® Discovery— a software solution developed in partnership with TDNet—will be implemented nationally in England via API protocol against the national NHS search interfaces HDAS and the Journals A-Z. The new service will continue to provide a seamless journey for eligible users from searches to the content they are eligible to access, by resolving the links between the search query and the relevant full text journal articles that sit in a Knowledge Base.
As the provider of this new service, Wolters Kluwer will be closely working with NICE to ensure NHS holdings are available in the Knowledge Base with the relevant linking in place, and print holdings will be indexed and made discoverable to users.
Wolters Kluwer will also be providing 4 WebEx sessions to be scheduled for September 2017 and an online resource centre with supporting information and resources on the new system for all Link Resolver administrators.
