I am writing from sunny Darwin. DGN Michael Cooke, DGE Ross Carlyle and I have been involved in GETS training during the last week and from Friday have attended the Rotary Institute. This is a valuable time where training has been at the different year level requirements. We have lots of Rotary information and have heard some excellent guest speakers. Also for Ross and me, a time to meet up with our year groups and compare our progress to date!
Presidents / Treasurers please respond to Sally at sally.furto@rotary.org if you still have issues with overdue membership payments.
Reconnect Week. The annual Rotary Alumni event is happening 2 – 8th October. This is an opportunity to reconnect with past Rotarians, Rotary Peace Fellows, Rotary Scholars, Youth Programme members and more who have lost their active connection with Rotary.
A good message from George Austin in the Burnie Club Bulletin – “It is depressing to dwell on falling membership rather than how to go about increasing it”. It is up to everyone to introduce a new member to their Rotary Club.
Yours in Rotary, Tony Colman

District Book Drive for Literacy
Has your club chosen a community group to be the recipients of your donated children's books?
Gather your books ready for the DG official visit.
September is Basic Education and Literacy Month
"More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population."
Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.
Please remember that when a District Governor Tony Colman and Liz visit a Rotary Club, by convention the DG will be the Guest Speaker for that meeting.
