Welcome to District Message Stick Week 8

From the District Governor
From the District Governor
  • To visit 3 clubs in Devonport last week illustrated that they are all busy, with specific projects in the same City; as well at Latrobe nearby. Four very busy and productive clubs.
  • Friday, I attended the District ROMAC committee training in a cosy B & B in Ross, with National President, Gaynor Scholls. The new ROMAC committee is made up of 5 Past Presidents, including a Past District Governor. This was an excellent opportunity for the members to meet and to be trained by long serving President of ROMAC whom I thank for making the trip to District 9830.
  • This Tuesday sees the first Group Forum. I would like to impress my wish for everyone to try to attend your own Group Forum. The Forums are organised by your Assistant Governor and is the opportunity for clubs to meet to exchange ideas / programmes, for Rotarians to meet; meeting other Rotarians / making new friends.

Enjoy Rotary!

District Book Drive for Literacy

Gather your books ready for the DG official visit.

August is Membership Month

August is Membership Month, which means it’s time to celebrate your Rotary club, your members, and the good you do in your community and around the world.

There are many ways to join in the celebration, but here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Say it loud, say it proud! Let everyone in your social network know that you are a proud member by adding the frame to your Facebook Profile picture. Click here to access the frame or visit the Rotary Tasmania Family Facebook group for more information.
  • We Are Rotary. Using the hashtag #WeAreRotary, post photos to Facebook or Twitter of your club members at work in your community or abroad to show how Rotary is making a difference in the world

Expressions of Interest - Nepal 2018

The February 2018 Rotary Observation Team trip to Nepal has now been announced.

Available dates have just been received and initial indications are that the approximately two-week self-funded visit will be from 04 February to 19 February, to be again led by Winston Quaile of the Rotary Club of Launceston West. These dates are to be confirmed shortly.
A team of 12 - 15 people is envisaged.

The team will visit the scheduled February “Gift of Sight” Eye Camps and other projects currently being undertaken under Tasmanian sponsorship in Nepal, particularly the reconstruction of three (3) earthquake-damaged schools and other humanitarian efforts.
Expressions of Interest are now being sought to participate in this tour. Please contact Winston Quaile at wquaile@gmail.com for further information if you are interested.

Please also consider the opportunity for your Club to financially support the Nepal ‘Gift of Sight’ Eye Camp Project. Contact PDG Kevin Shadbolt at kjshadbolt@bigpond.com for more information on the process for donating to this most worthwhile project.

Regards
PP Winston Quaile (2017 – 18) Nepal Team Leader)
