New Parents Information

Got Questions?

…just ask parents@lsprep.org! We know having a child who is beginning high school raises all sorts of questions.  What do kids wear to the dance? When are tryouts for basketball? Is it OK for my freshman to go on an immersion trip? Where do I go if I have a question about PowerSchool? That’s why we’ve developed a  parent resource email – think of it as a hotline – where you can talk to someone who has been in your shoes. The parents@lsprep.org  email  is managed by La Salle staff who are alums or have/have had  children at La Salle and who are happy to help. Your questions will be addressed within 24 hours and will be kept confidential (remember there is no bad question!).  If you have questions about life at La Salle, send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!

New Parent Social before Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 13 @ 6 PM

Parents of incoming ninth graders and transfer students are invited to a social from 6-7 pm in the Cafeteria Courtyard prior to Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 13.  Grab a sandwich and a glass of wine or beer before Back-to-School Night and meet fellow parents and members of the administrative team.  No RSVP necessary.  This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and have a bite to eat before the formal program.

Booster Club Red & Blue BBQ

The Boosters are hosting the annual Red and Blue BBQ on August 23.  We welcome all our students, staff, coaches, parents, family and friends to join us for our fall sports and annual membership drive kickoff event.

The burgers and salads are on us!  Please come out and enjoy exhibitions by our fall sport athletes.  In addition to booster club memberships we will have spirit wear on sale to show your Falcon pride this school year.

There are no additional fees for sport and activity participation at La Salle.  Your Booster Membership along with our Annual Steak, Seafood and Microbrew tasting and concession stand profits allow us to support our students as they compete for La Salle.

In addition to equipment and uniforms we are pleased to be the lead donor for a renovation to our locker rooms, coaching offices and team rooms that will update, enhance and transform our space and technology to facilitate coaching and collaboration.

As a special thank you – your Booster Club membership allows you free access to all home varsity contests as well as priority access to the annual Steak and Seafood event.

You can register online or in person at the Red & Blue on August 23rd.  In addition to avoiding the long line at the first games, everyone who registers on or before the 23rd will be eligible to win the Falcon VIP experience at a home football game of your choice.

Thank you for your support of La Salle athletics and activities!

After more than 30 years at La Salle, French teacher retires

After 33 years teaching Lasallians how to speak French, teacher Annette Hallaux is saying au revior to La Salle Prep.

“It’s time to move on to a new stage in my life,” said Hallaux, who announced her retirement this month. “I have been very lucky to be here. There are some incredible teachers and dedicated staff here.”

Hallaux started at La Salle in 1984, after learning about the opening from a friend she met while teaching in Burkina Faso in the Peace Corps.

Hallaux, who had studied French at Linfield College, felt fortunate to get a job where she could teach while still being open about her Christian faith.

“People were paying me to share what I truly love!” she said. “It was a ton of work, but I love the French culture, I love traveling, and I love speaking French. It was a good fit.”

Over the years, Hallaux shared her love of all things French with her students. She not only taught them the language, she exposed them to French cuisine and the culture. She took them to a French pastry shop, expanded their vocabulary with French disco music, and had them make one of France’s most luxurious products — perfume.

Hallaux says she loves French because it is “it is the language of the world,” one that is spoken in 50 countries and used by the United Nations, the Olympics, and the Red Cross.

“It’s a passport to the world,” she said. “It helps you understand that people can view things from other perspectives, and that is OK. You may even like that dinner is at 8 and not a 6 and is served in courses. It opens the world to you…”

Hallaux especially loved seeing her students apply what they learned when they traveled to France on immersion trips.

“It is the ultimate project-based learning,” she said. “It’s a wonderful renewing of my language skills as well as theirs.”

Hallaux, whose has two sons who graduated from La Salle, says she plans to spend her retirement traveling with her husband, who also retired this year.

Though she will miss her students and staffers, Hallaux said she looks forward to “new adventures that are coming my way.”

2017 Believe Benefit Dinner

Saturday, October 7, 2017

On Campus at La Salle Prep

The Believe Benefit Dinner is truly a “Party with a Purpose.” Through Believe, La Salle Prep’s largest fundraising event of the year, we join forces as a community of alumni, parents and friends of La Salle who care deeply about providing our students with an excellent Catholic education and all-encompassing student experience. During the course of our fun and festive evening, Believe illuminates and responds to the extensive need for financial aid, of which we provide more than $1.9 million dollars to more than 50% of our families.

Equally important, Believe supports La Salle’s overall student experience: its premier programs, its 21st Century learning environments, its formational experiences – everything we do to elevate, engage, enrich, and educate our students during their formative years here. Every year at Believe we raise our paddles for a second initiative that speaks to these student needs in campus development, classroom renovations, and learning space creation.
