BRUTAL BLAST /// ISSUE 5

Version 1.4 Released!

1.4 is here, and it's got some new brutality for you!

What's new in 1.4?

  • FLAVORS: New text shadows
  • BUTCH: New opacities, bevel, and emboss classes
  • BFX: "Pride" filter is now deprecated; new "Blink" effect!
  • BUIX: Updated Revelations; added support for single image thumbnails
  • TEMPLATES: New email template!
FLAVORS - Now with text shadow support!
As if Flavors wasn't delicious enough, there is now support for text-shadows! Simply apply a class like so to any text: .flavorcolor-text-shadow.

BUTCH - New Box Shadows, Bevel, and Emboss!
There are now opacity classes for making elements semi-transparent, or having a transparent background. Also, there is now a "bevel" and "emboss" class for borders. Emboss makes an element appear stamped (inset), whereas bevel makes an element pop out (outset). Check them out under BUTCH!

Pride Filter Deprecated
The rainbow effect for images (pride filter) is now deprecated (removed). It was not very reliable, and had bad performance issues overall. It is completely dropped in 1.4.

Blink is Back!
Back in the old days of the web, there was an HTML tag for blinking text. However, the < blink > tag is now deprecated. But... thanks to BF, blink is back! Under BFX, you can now blink any element! There are 4 pre-defined speeds for your convenience. Don't forget to get your blinker fluid!

BUIX - Updated Revelations and New Support for Single Image Thumbnails

Revelations has been improved to better support hovering different types of content of different sizes. Now, the hover effect simply enlarges the content by 150% of it's original size.

Thumbnails now have new classes to support single images, so you can make a standalone image be a thumbnail.

New Email Template
There is now a new email template, included with the core. It's responsive, too!

What's Next?

1.5 will have heavy focus on responsive behavior improvements, as well as style support for forms.

Brutalist PHramework will be the PHP version of BF, which is currently in the planning stages. GitHub repository will be located here. If you have ideas / suggestions, please open an issue there.
