Welcome to the August Newsletter

A year of amazing successes here at the CTRC, including the launch of our brand new website, and a huge amount of community support day in, day out.

Day camps a success

A quick look at the below photos can tell you how much fun our riders and staff alike had at the July school holiday day camps.

New Website Launch!

After many hours of work - we have finally said goodbye to our fossil of a website, and launched our brand new website.

Our new web address is www.claremonttherapeuticridingcentre.org.au and offers a range of information including our riders of the month profiles, information on our coaches and staff and easier way to contact us regarding classes.

Check it out now!

'How Can I Help?'

Our new website offers a range of different ways you can help out the centre, or become more involved in the daily running of the centre. Head to our site now, and see what difference you can make.

US Consul General Visit!

On the 4th of this month, we had the pleasure of a visit from US Consul General Rachel Cooke, who dropped in to learn about what we do here at CTRC. Rachel got to observe a Ride Therapy lesson and meet Jo Blomquist and two of our Ride Therapy riders and also watched M'Liss with a Double Dink and also met our RA Dressage riders Mercedes and Sara. Spud also had the pleasure of taking Rachel on a little ride! A very enjoyable afternoon for everyone and we have told Rachel whenever she feels like a break from the office she's most welcome to come and visit!!!
The Crew & US Consul General

We're off to the RDA Nationals!!

Best wishes to Sara Cann, Mercedes Portaro, Jaye Barnesby-Buie and their families who are heading over for the RDA National Dressage Champs which are being held in Werribee Vic on the 4th, 5th & 6th of October.
M’Liss, Jacqui and our CTRC Board have decided that for our riders to have their best opportunities during the champs that they would be far better riding their regular horses from CTRC rather than loan horses from Victoria.

So Flash, Choco and Archie will be making the big trip also, and of course our M’Liss will be there to lend a helping hand every step of the way. As you may be aware this is a big trip for our boys and it would not have been possible without very generous sponsorship from Wayne and the team at Combined Horse Transport who have offered to transport the horses for 50% off and have offered their beautiful property and facilities for the horses to recover and then train on prior to the event and then transport to the event – free of charge!!!

We are so grateful to Wayne for this offer and we certainly encourage any of our horsey friends who are transporting horses over the Nullarbor to please show your appreciation of CHT support of our centre, by sending your horse with Combined! They offer a first class service and your horse is their top priority and you can track their progress by GPS reports and daily driver updates. Please give them a call on 1800 998 157 to either discuss your horse transport needs or to thank them for their support of CTRC and our riders!

Bankwest Banks on CTRC

Thanks to one of our fabulous parents Russell Yeo who works for Bankwest, we have received a Bankwest Easy Grant of $1000! This grant has been used for Bankwest to sponsor CTRC-favourite Gumnut!

This good boy is known around the centre for his beautiful personality and his connection with our young riders. We are so pleased with the sponsorship from Bankwest and they should be so proud of this handsome horse impacting many different people.
You can sponsor a horse too!

Our 'Flash'est Horse gets a Sponsor

Thankyou to Belinda Von Knoll for sponsoring the beautiful Flash for a year! If you would like to make a donation to CTRC please go to our new website and click on the "How can I help" page.

New lighting thanks to community angels!

We are very lucky to have all our arena, stable and office lighting changed over to LED - all donated. We are blown away by the community spirit and generosity shown by such a great bunch of businesses and lads led by Matt Goundrey from Techworks Electrical Solutions. The boys gave up their Sunday to complete the works, Rexel Australia and ATOM Lighting supplied all the lighting and hardware and Rod Sommer and Access Hire supplied the telescopic boom lifts.

Lovely day with a great group of people - will post a night time pic tomorrow to show how fantastic the new lighting is and really humbled by the community support, so please support these great companies that are supporting us!!

Inspirational Rider of the Month

Our Inspirational Rider of the month is Jasmin Steiner. Jasmin has been volunteering one afternoon a week with us this year as well as her regular lessons and at the recent RDA WA Championships achieved the perpetual trophy for the Junior Highest Score in dressage!! Well Done Jasmin - keep striving!

Achiever of the Month

We are pleased to award the Achiever of the Month for July to Ruby-Ray Whitehead. M'Liss bestowed this award on Ruby because of her great improvement in her jumping, now jumping up to 90cm's and ready to progress to the next level!

About Ruby - "I first came to CTRC 7 years ago. I love it because all the people are amazing and super friendly and I love making new friends. Coming to CTRC has helped me become a much better rider and has improved my skills. My dream is to become an Olympic Showjumper".

Congratulations Ruby - reach for the stars!

Volunteers of the Month

Last month we announced our award winners from June/July and this time we have joint Volunteers of the Month. Big congratulations to the "terrible two" Tamara Keens and Lilly Forster who spent everyday on the school holidays with us helping out and were absolutely invaluable during the Day Camps! Well Done girls!!

From Tamara:
I’ve been helping out every week day (apart from Thursday) for the past 3 terms. After riding at CTRC for a term I started helping out at the day camps. I found it so much fun because this was one of the first experiences of volunteering in a fun environment. I never expected all the opportunities I would get from volunteering! I’ve gained valuable experience being around disabled people and young children. I have also learnt many things about horses I didn’t know before helping out. It’s been a great way to build up muscles while being with my friends and a bonus is being able to see my favourite horse Barney every day!!

Lilly – I have been volunteering here for a year and I enjoy it because it’s such a great team to belong to and it’s cool to teach the kids at the Day Camps. It has also taught me a lot about horsemastership – grooming, feeding, catching, leading and tacking up.

Birthday Bananza

Happy Birthday to all our beautiful horses on August 1! On the day, our 12 o'clock class sang Happy Birthday and thanks to Jess, there was lots of carrots and apples to share!
