Roy Hill Racing Cobra Jets Gear Up for NHRA US Nationals and Carolina Nationals

Roy Hill Racing is preparing for a critical stretch of races as summer winds down and we enter fall, which is the peak of the racing season. The two biggest events on the schedule, the NHRA US Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and the NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway, are right around the corner, but Hill has a full schedule packed around those two critical races.

Last weekend, Hill visited the Woodward Dream Cruise presented by Ford in Detroit, MI, where he displayed the 2010 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Super Stock car and the E3 Spark Plugs Jr. Dragster on behalf of Ford Performance. The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world’s largest one-day celebration of classic car culture that attracts over 1 million visitors, and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles.

"That was the biggest car show and cruise I've ever seen," Roy Hill admitted. "It was great to be there in support of Ford Performance. The Cobra Jet and Jr. Dragster were as big of a hit as anything there, especially for the kids."

Roy and his team will make one more important display on Wednesday, August 23rd at Charlotte Motor Speedway as the track rolls out the red carpet for 125 members of the traveling media in preparation for the upcoming NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway and the NASCAR Bank of America 500 at the Speedway. From there, it's on to Indy.

The Roy Hill Racing team will hope to channel the good fortune they experienced in 2010 and 2011, when they won class championships in Super Stock A and Super Stock B, as they roll through the gates of Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis for the NHRA US Nationals.

This year the team will field three cars: two driven by Hill and one piloted by North Carolina's Bubba Turner. Turner will be behind the wheel of the Super Stock B-designated machine backed by ProThings, while Hill will drive the Phoenix Racing Super Stock A class car in addition to the Ford Performance car in the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown.

"We're very excited for Indy and we've been doing a lot of preparation for this race," Hill stated. "The Super Stock B car that Bubba Turner will be driving has a new engine from Lon Moyer and Competition Engine Services, and it's at JDM Engineering right now getting tuned by Jim DeMora.

"We also have great power from Jon Kaase in the Ford Performance shootout car," Hill continued. "We're very excited about the power we have heading into Indy and have high hopes for this race."

After Indy, it's right back to Hill's home track, zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC, for the Carolina Nationals. Hill has a multi-faceted relationship with zMAX Dragway and always hosts large groups from many of his sponsors during the event. The recently-completed Richard Petty tribute car for "The King's" 80th birthday will be on display, in addition to the Alsco car and several others.

"We're also working on our new 2016 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. We're getting it ready this winter and look forward to debuting it at the start of 2018, which will be another great year for us," Hill concluded.

Roy Hill's Drag Racing School Announces Dates at Rockingham to Wrap Up 2017

Roy Hill's Drag Racing School and Roy Hill's Jr. Dragster School have a jam-packed schedule at two of North Carolina's premier racing facilities as 2017 draws to a close.

"The Jr. Dragster program is especially strong right now," said Roy Hill. "We've had many students go on to take home wins at national events as well as local races. I think this is great proof that they are improving their skills by attending our specially-designed course. No one else in the industry focuses on the youth of our sport like we do at Roy Hill's Jr. Dragster School."

Below are the dates currently scheduled at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, NC. Stay tuned for dates at Piedmont Dragway in Julian, NC, to be announced soon. These dates are for both Roy Hill's Drag Racing School, which is open to any and all classes and attendees, and Roy Hill's Jr. Dragster school.
