I read every one of my emails.
We can do whatever we put our minds to. If we want to see change, we got to work hard to bring that about. We must sharpen the tools/talents we were blessed with. We must not bury our talents. If each person work their talents, we can have something in this world while we are alive. Many people dream of heaven, and sit and wait on miracles on earth. We got to be about building, creating, and inventing now. We were brought on the earth to be productive, not sit like a knot on a log.
If you encourage your children to read and write poetry early, you have given them tools to master reading and writing. They will have less problems on standardized tests than other children. They will be able to cut through figurative language, main ideas, and context clues. Writing essays and stories will be fun later on. Not a burden.
Let Your Children Hang out with older people that love telling history, and watch their knowledge level make a quantum leap.
Never underestimate the knowledge of learning from the elders. The Real Institutions of Higher Learning---comes from the Elders passing Stories.
Before there were buildings of stone and wood called school, the Elders were educating the people through stories, proverbs, and many other ways. Lets go back to that, and we will get back on point with education.
Once somebody shows the youth the power of older people stories, it's on.
Really, the more we, who are artists & parents do it---the youth will be inspired, and move in the right direction.
His-story is not cool with the youth. Something deep down inside them, makes digesting his-story hard. They not wrong in that either. That stuff watered down/dumbed down history. What are we going to do about it? Lets write the real history for the youth and our people.
Newspapers, News on TV or the Internet---can't compete with the Elders. History comes back around to the present...generation after generation. Sit down with wise older people, and let them drop them jewels. Watch and see if they what they drop on you from the past---still happening with a different name. Decode the new name, and you will be at the top of the game. Ask the elders the tough questions. That is what they want.
Once elders are gone, they are gone. A library---gone to the dirt. And we on top of the dirt, failed to use our library card. Lets get on point people.
